I would say all of what I ordered was just edible. Nothing with much flavor and textures weren’t great. I ordered chicken with garlic sauce(pictured) and it was quite watery with mostly vegetables. Chicken texture was kinda dry even it all that sauce. Also ordered the orange chicken which came with the most soggy batter that I would describe as “slimy” and not more of the typical “sticky” consistency that you find with other places. Lastly ordered the crab puffs and egg rolls. Crab puffs lacked flavor and the filling was minimal and pretty dry instead of a more creamy texture. The egg rolls I didn’t eat because I don’t like them at all but my partner stated he wasn’t a fan. Overall, to reiterate, the food is simply edible and personally won’t be back.

FYI, the coupon at the bottom of their website that says “$5 off orders $50 or more” refers to before tax, not after.

Have been going here for many years. I’m talking about 15 to 20 years. Very close to my house. Their food is good, prices are fair and they have a great lunch special that includes soup, egg roll and one of those triangular looking things with a cream cheese in it. That’s all comes with the main entree that you’ve ordered. Must get there before 3:00 to take advantage of the lunch special. One thing I don’t like is you can’t order a cup of soup with meals after 3:00. You have to buy a family size bowl of soup that would feed four or five people. Come to think of it I don’t think you get an egg roll with your meals after 3:00. Overall it’s a great place to eat.

Delicious authentic dishes with very reasonable prices. The Peking Duck is so good! Worth going for that dish alone.

Obviously, there are a lot of Americanized Chinese food places out there. Tao Garden is not that, coming in with the delicious traditional Chinese food that will please those with a diverse palate. I would recommend coming here and trying something you’ve never tried before from a Chinese restaurant, you will be pleasantly surprised. Every dish was flavorful and came out on the perfect cadence. A large amount of rice came with our dishes and free refills of rice are available.

The service was great and everyone here was very friendly. For the amount of food you get, the prices are 100% reasonable and the food is worth every penny.

I will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. Go to Tao Garden, and step outside the box of your typical dishes. You won’t be disappointed!

Really good food at a reasonable price. That is why Tao Garden has such great reviews. The tofu that was used in the mapo tofu and hot & sour soup was very tender and made both dishes very light. The salty pepper shrimp was cooked just right. Overall the food is something that you find at a really good family restaurant, tasty dishes with well balanced flavors and quality ingredients that are not overly greasy. The menu is large and the service is fast. Definitely a place for wonderful home cooked meals!

Probably one and done type of restaurant for me. I got the braised tofu. I asked for a teriyaki flavor and then added fried rice. Fried rice seemed was just egg and brown rice. Not really much flavor going on in this meal. $37 for two dinner plates with fried rice on pickup was pretty aggressive for this.

What wonderful friendly service! This place is the real deal. The food is great and the prices are outstanding. The portions are large. Try the lunch specials. So much food. So little money. I had the chicken friend rice. It was perfect. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior. This gem is well worth the visit.

If I could give 0 stars, I would.
We had one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. My husband’s dish was so over-salted it was completely inedible. I ordered the lemon chicken, expecting the traditional sauce made with lemon, garlic, soy, and a thickener. Instead, I was served a dish that was clearly just a sweet-and-sour style sauce — reddish-orange, tangy, and absolutely no trace of lemon. I never order sweet-and-sour because I don’t care for it, so this was extremely disappointing.
The drinks were just as bad. The iced tea tasted like watered-down coffee scrapings, so I politely asked for a Coke instead. Unfortunately, the Coke tasted off as well — all syrup and barely any carbonation. The only thing that was remotely acceptable were the cream cheese wontons.
On top of the poor food and drinks, the prices are far too high — $3.00 for a soda and overpriced dishes that were not edible. I also need to note something very important: I am deathly allergic to shellfish. I always make a point of checking with the server to ensure that shellfish and non-shellfish items are cooked in separate oil and with separate utensils. We felt reasonably comfortable eating here since the menu had a very limited amount of shellfish, and I didn’t think oyster sauce or lobster would make its way into a lemon chicken dish. However, the language barrier was so severe that I could not be confident I was understood. That is extremely concerning from a food safety perspective.

We ate very little of our meals and politely told the server that the food quality was very poor. Our plates were still nearly full — clearly showing we weren’t just trying to get a “free meal.” Instead of addressing the issue, the server disappeared and never came back. After nearly 10 minutes we went to the counter, where the full bill was handed to us. When my husband reasonably pointed out that it didn’t seem appropriate to charge for inedible food and terrible drinks, the manager or owner came out, threw her hands up, and loudly said, “What’s your problem?” This behavior was shocking and extremely unprofessional. She repeatedly insisted the food was “authentic Chinese food,” which it was not. Authentic Chinese food is not over-salted, lemon chicken is not sweet-and-sour, and soda should actually taste like soda.

To top it off, she told us to “just look online at her reviews.” My husband rightly said he doesn’t care what’s online — the food we were served that night was horrible and inedible, and the way we were treated was unacceptable. At that point, I simply asked him to pay the bill and leave.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but between the food being wrong, two different drinks being undrinkable, one dish so salty it couldn’t be eaten, my concerns over shellfish handling not being understood, and the manager’s completely inappropriate behavior, I feel it’s important to warn others.

With the number of excellent restaurants in the greater Phoenix area, places that serve poor food at high prices and treat customers with hostility instead of respect should not expect to last. We will not return.

Very clean restaurant, beautilful atmostsphere, food is good, a little bit too oily. Really bad customer service, I don’t believe waitresses deserve any tip.
