Came for diner today. Used OpenTable app for a reservation a few days prior. Host had no idea about reservations, but cleared a table and seated us right away. Place was busy with lots of games on the TVs. Within 5 minutes we placed our order of app, food and beverages. Food and app took over 45 minutes. Absurd long wait for bar food. The kitchen needs to pickup speed or get help. Anyways the food was ok, just typical bar food. Definitely a fun place to hang out and watch games.

Tampa Burgers and Pirates has a lot of potential, but our visit fell well short of expectations, especially given the pricing. With burgers costing close to $20, basic execution and service should not be this inconsistent.

The issues started upon arrival. No one was at the host stand, and while waiting, I could clearly see several employees behind the kitchen doors eating. The restaurant was not busy (the bar was roughly one-third full and the dining area maybe 15–20%). When someone finally noticed us, the bartender came out chewing food and went straight behind the bar to make drinks, followed by two servers and the person who eventually seated us.

After being seated and given menus, my wife noticed her menu was sticking to the table. We then realized the table had a large dried spill on it. We sat for about ten minutes without being greeted. When our waitress finally came over, she apologized and said she hadn’t been told her table had been seated. I pointed out the dirty table, which she cleaned promptly and apologized again, even acknowledging that things were “off to a bad start.”

We ordered dinner and drinks. My wife had a chicken quesadilla and water. I ordered a vodka soda, the pineapple jalapeño burger, and paid extra for the beer-battered fries.

The food arrived fairly quickly, which was appreciated, but my drink never came. The food was delivered by another server, and no one checked on us afterward. Upon inspection, several things were wrong: the burger came on a regular bun instead of the listed Kaiser roll, the cheese was American instead of cheddar, and the burger was cooked well done rather than medium. The fries were thin-sliced potato wedges and did not resemble beer-battered fries in appearance or taste.

The burger patty itself appeared to be a frozen, pre-formed patty, not what you would expect from a sit-down burger restaurant charging premium prices.

During the 15–20 minutes after the food arrived, no one checked on us. Most of the staff remained behind the kitchen doors, visible but not on the floor. I later noticed my cocktail sitting on the bar the entire time. Neither the bartender nor the waitress followed up on it.

When the waitress finally returned, my wife explained that my drink never came and the food was incorrect, and we were ready to leave. There were no follow-up questions, no attempt to correct the issues, and no manager involvement. The drink was removed from the bill, but I was initially still charged for the incorrect burger. When I questioned this, I was told the fries were “their version” of beer-battered fries, and there was no response regarding the bun, cheese, or cook temperature. Eventually, the check was adjusted, but without any apology or effort to make things right.

Overall, the food was subpar and the service was largely absent. Given the price point and the number of avoidable issues, I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

Seems like any regular, themed sports bar you’d find in a downtown area but Tampa Pirates & Burgers serves the best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had (The Flying Dutchman). Our server was so sweet and prompt. We arrived after lunch rush and it looked like she was hosting and serving but she got our drinks quickly and took our order promptly. We brought the kids with us and everyone had a great time. The restaurant has tons of fun signage to read inside and kept everyone busy while we waited for our food. When it arrived, my chicken sandwich was probably 10 feet tall. The sweet pickles paired so well with the jalapeños which balanced with the coleslaw. I got a side salad that I am still thinking about the next day but my daughter let me have some of her fries which were also delicious. My husband got a salad as his meal and it was bigger than my head. My only critique (if you can call it that) is that kids’ meals are on the pricier side ($10) to other restaurants (usually $5-7) but you definitely get what you pay for. Plus it’s downtown Tampa, so not unreasonable. Generous portion sizes, delicious food, fast and friendly service. 5 out of 5 stars.

They weren’t very busy for a Friday, we were the only people here. But they were fast and the food was fresh. I got the Mac and cheese burger which was good, definitely need to try something different next time. They had a variety of options on the menu too!

The burgers are amazing, unique flavors, very crafty, fries are very well seasoned, right in the middle. The restaurant has big screens everywhere so you can watch your sport games from anywhere.

Tampa Burger & Pirates is always a great stop The atmosphere is fun and friendly. The menus had a greats selection that pleased everyone in our party. The burgers are seriously good cooked right, full of flavor, I had the the Pirates Pick a perfectly cooked burger with caramelized onions and Applewood bacon so delicious. Everything came out of the kitchen hot and done right for everyone I cant wait for my next trip to Tampa, to try something else

Big shoutout to Mike, the GM. You can tell he runs a great operation. The staff is friendly, things move smoothly, and the overall vibe is just easy and welcoming. That kind of consistency doesn’t happen by accident.

Great food, great service, and a place you actually want to come back to. Highly recommend.

Everything at this establishment was excellent! I was immediately amused by the pirate-themed decor. With the dim lighting, numerous televisions, and live music, I felt at ease and excited to eat. Fortunately, the food didn’t disappoint! The beef & lamb burger, in particular, offered a delectable balance between the richness of the meats and the freshness of the vegetables and tzatziki sauce. On top of that, their fries are everything you want a potato to be: crunchy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned.

If you visit on Thursdays, be sure to order an appetizer for half price. The chicken egg rolls were crispy, flavorful, and complimented the sweet chili and cream sauces that paired with them. The service was quick and friendly — if you’re served by Tiffani, you’re guaranteed to have a good time. All in all, the food, service, and atmosphere are unbeatable at Tampa Burgers & Pirates. Don’t hesitate to make a visit!

This was probably one the best burgers I’ve had in awhile. We ordered THE MUTINY MUSHROOM SWISS BURGER with Truffle Fries and the BLACKBEARD’S CHICKEN SANDWICH….all was cooked to perfection!!! Our server was friendly.
The seats we sat on were a bit shaky but the food made up for it. Definitely a place to check out!
