Just bought 8 red pork tamales today June 22nd. Been going here many many years and today I noticed the meat inside the tamale was not as much as I used to remember. It looks skimpy. The taste is still great just needs to go back to being packed with meat.

Pretty disappointed I use to go here often tamales were always good went on Mothers day got a dozen tamales for $30 only to come home and findout the red and green chili ones were just a bunch of dough very dry little meat what a rip off for the price.

I do not have the authority to reward Elena a Michelin star but if I could I would. The flavors are robust and balanced. First time in the neighborhood but it won’t be my last. Tamales are great but don’t sleep on the tacos. The (orange?) sauce in the plastic bag hit all the right notes. They gave me too much sauce but that’s fine I’ll use it. Thanks Yo Yo for the recommendation.

I love the champurrado, it’s not expensive and it taste delish, make sure you ask for the 3$ cup its just 50 cents difference but it’s worth it! They also have the gallon jug for 25$ to take back home or to your coworkers. It has become a stop on the way to work!

I’ve been coming here for so many years now. The food is always great and delicious. Great service. Great, everything. I remember the mom and her daughters. When I was a baby girl always looking out for them. To see if there would be passing by the house because I wanted some tamales. And the drinks.
The mom and her family of Elena, tamales have been knowing our family for a very long time.
So many years and I’m still coming here and eating. My food is so great and delicious. Especially when they have their big orders for the holidays. I do highly recommend coming here and eating their food.

They make the best tamales hands down! Better get there early if you want some. Its a food truck in the middle of Watts so you might run into some weirdo, but it’s worth the hike. They always park on Wilmington facing South. I’ve been buying their tamales for the last 20 years. When I have the craving they are my to go place.

I give their red tamales a rating of 10! I recently tried their shredded beef hard shell tacos; I give their tacos, described above a rating of 3; they are super small and they cost between $2 – $3. I honestly thought they would be a bit bigger for the price. The taste was pretty good but I felt cheated when I saw that they were too small. They overcharge you. If they would make them bigger, they would be worth it. I will continue to buy their red tamales (their green chile chicken tamales are really good also), but I will never buy their tacos again!

This is a hidden gem and you wouldn’t even think they sell anything other than Tamales but let me tell you… their tacos de barbacoa are amazing with the side of consomé. Their tamales are also great but have became smaller throughout the years but still pretty tasty. Their salsas are always on point the red one is my personal favorite don’t say I didn’t warn you because it’s HOT but it’s also tasty.

Monday thru Friday the tamales taste good. Saturday and Sunday they taste way different. I believe someone else is doing them on the weekends because they don’t taste the same. They are also way smaller too.
Update: Nov 1 they went up to smaller tamales for $1.50. Plus, they hardly had any chicken and are very small now. Champurado was also water-down. This place has hit rock bottom. How sad! If they were big for $1.50 I wouldn’t of had a problem , but they were so tiny. They used to be big when they were a $1.00 back then. Even the hot green sauce is missing cilantro and onion.
