The appetizers were great- gyoza, complimentary egg rolls and edamame. The shrimp ramen tasted pretty good but the flavor was a bit bland. Adding the provided sauces helped.

This restaurant is exactly what we needed!

The tonkotsu broth was dreamy and very flavorful. The shrimp ramen was praised very highly by my wife. The crab rangoons were fresh and very creamy.

To top it off, the prices are really great (~$15 per bowl of ramen) and the staff is very welcoming and attentive.

I checked out Tamago Ramen Bar
in Pauls Valley and had a great experience. I started with the edamame, which was fresh, lightly salted, and a perfect little snack before the main dish. For my meal, I went with the udon soup, and it did not disappoint. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the udon noodles had that perfect chewy texture. The toppings were fresh and added a nice balance to the dish. You could tell the manager was nervous but she’ll get more comfortable in time. Definitely fat guy approved.

They don’t have a very big menu. I ordered the pork egg rolls and spicy tonkotsu ramen. The food was very bland. I received excellent service & a full belly, so all in all I left happy. I don’t think I would eat here again, though.

The spiciness/heat in the tonkotsu broth was excellent, but aside from that it had no flavor. Even the pork egg rolls tasted like nothing D: I really wanted to like this place. I’m happy I tried it though. I love noodoos:)

For those interested in the average cost for dining here: I paid just under $22 for the ramen, egg rolls & a glass of water. That is not including tip. I’d say it’s fairly priced. Any other ramen restaurant charges about the same.

After reading some of the other reviews, it seems that Tamago has stepped their game up. We came in for a late lunch and had a fantastic experience. Perfect jammy Ramen egg, great tea, just a fantastic experience overall. Slurped my way through the whole bowl.

This is a very under appreciated, tiny gem in an old town.

The staff are kind and friendly. The food is nostalgic and satisfying.

If you want to support a small town gem, please come here. It’s humble and welcoming.

Customer service was great. The server was very attentive and polite. Had a respectable display when handing out utensils food and other things. Now let’s get to what yall come to the reviews for. The food here was by far some of if not the best Chinese I’ve ever had all the food was made fresh to order so no pre cooked chicken that gets a refry. I got the orange chicken and had them make it extra spicy. It could of spicier for my liking but im from sw Louisiana and can handle plenty of heat. Will Definitely be thrown in to our weekly trip when it comes to lunch spots. You will not be disappointed. The only negative thing I can say was there was not many people in their wich was a surprise and that the inside could use a facelift, but this does not reflect on the food itself

The food looked and tasted amazing, possibly even better than the great ramen I usually have to travel to the city for. Between widely spaced seating, quiet ambiance, and the amazing service it’s comfortable atmosphere is even better than the food and that’s saying a lot. If you enjoy authentic Asian cuisine I recommend trying this one of the few we are lucky to have in rural areas like this.

I am a huge fan of ramen and all things Asian, it’s what I grew up on living in Anchorage, Alaska for 36 years and we had a very large Asian population so I have a lot of experiences and knowledge about ramen and I moved to PV 9 years ago. I’ve learned to cook my own Japanese, Thai and Korean cuisine because there was no offering of anything of that sort except Green Tea, which is good but not authentic. I think Tamago has a good idea but if your restaurant means egg that perfect ramen egg should exist. I know I’m in a small town with lesser palettes than mine (no offense PV I love it here) no one knows the difference between a marinated hard boiled egg and a true jammy ramen egg. That and I got the spicy meatball ramen and I expected something light and airy and spicy and I got a dense ball of meat I was truly scared to eat and there was no spice except the siracha I put on it.
There is definitely potential here I think, just have to step it up a notch. Or not. It’s Paul’s Valley.
