I used to think I had to head to Kintaro in Cleveland for top-tier All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) sushi, but Takumi Sushi has officially become my go-to spot right here in Columbus.

The Sushi: Quality Over Everything
The freshness here is incredible across the board. I tried the Salmon, White Tuna, Scallop, and Yellowtail, and every piece was spot on.

• The Pro Move: They don’t try to fill you up on rice! The fish-to-rice ratio is perfectly on point.
• The Rolls: As you can see from my photos, the rolls are packed with fish, not just filler.

The Bar & Service
The service is what really sets this place apart. Rico took amazing care of us, and Jane and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

If you’re grabbing a drink, ask for Sarah at the bar. She’s amazing! I highly recommend the Hot Japanese Toddy—it’s a sake-based cocktail that is unique and delicious.

The Verdict
Fresh fish, great ratios, and a staff that treats you like a VIP. If you’re looking for the best AYCE experience in Columbus, this is it. The decor of the place was the icing on top!

Takumi Sushi completely exceeded every expectation we had. The food quality is truly top tier, absolutely nothing like your typical buffet. Every roll was fresh, beautifully prepared, and tasted like something you’d expect from a high-end à la carte sushi restaurant. You can immediately tell they prioritize quality over everything else. Honestly, it’s cheaper than it should be for the level of food you’re getting.

What made the experience even more unforgettable was our server, Jane. She was, without exaggeration, the best server we have ever had — and we eat out very often. Jane went above and beyond in every possible way. She was attentive, professional, kind, and made sure every detail was perfect. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and made us feel genuinely valued.

She made our experience feel presidential. That level of care and hospitality is extremely rare.

Takumi Sushi has earned lifelong customers. We will absolutely be back and will be asking for Jane every time!

The sushi was really fresh and amazing. It is prepared fresh on the spot so a the wait was expected and normal. The atmosphere and vibes of the restaurant was up scale as well. Try the Buckeye roll which is my favorite!!!

My experience here was nothing short of lovely. We walked in with a pretty large party, and they were completely transparent about the wait time of ~30 minutes. Completely worth it as everything tasted incredible and fresh. I highly recommend the Tiger Roll they have available. Beautiful interior coupled with amazing food. Don’t miss out!

This people is amazing. It honestly feels too nice for an AYCE experience. Food is great, well prepared, and a fair price. It has great ambience. They have some slight kinks they’re working out with the soft opening, but our server Jane was so incredibly helpful!! We’ll be back.

A fantastic first impression.
The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is nice.
I think that it’s a little slow to get your rolls out, but honestly, the quality of the fish is great and you can tell it’s all handmade, so I’m okay with it taking a little longer.
I will absolutely be back, blows conveyor belt sushi out of the water, and I’m paying essentially the same amount of money as conveyor belt but much better quality/variety.

Bummed out, my autistic mega sushi fan son waited months to come here. The “no substitutions” rule means they refuse to omit sauce, cucumber, or lettuce. He left crying after manager gas lit us about it being too hard to do. We waited an hour for literally 4 nigiri, and their inability to make a few more rolls to go along with it. We were one of 3 families there and it was super slow. Wound up leaving after quibbling about what was taking so long. Price was expensive all things considered. Son said Nigiri was fresh, that was where our positive experience ended. It was a total bust. Manager even tried to blame the poor waitress on their awful policy. Atmosphere woulda been cool had that all not happened. Every other sushi place around has this figured out, apparently it’s too hard for them.

We tried this new all you can eat sushi spot tonight. You wouldn’t know that it has only been open four days; the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming!
Everything we tried was delicious, including sushi, hibachi, teriyaki, ramen, and appetizers like gyoza, crab rangoon, sweet potato tempura, and edamame. The crepe cake was so light, and we LOVED the passion fruit green tea. The space is beautiful and spacious, too. We had a toddler with us, and they brought her fried rice with yum yum sauce and her drink in a Paw Patrol cup.
We’ve never tried an AYCE restaurant before. The all you can eat concept is unique, especially if you like ordering specialty rolls and trying a variety of different items. I personally tend to order simpler veggie rolls, so it may not be the best value for me, but I can definitely see the appeal. Overall, the quality and friendliness really stood out, and we are glad to have them in town.

I will preface they were in the soft opening but they should not have been open. They were out of half of the items we ordered. We ordered what they had available and it took 50 minutes to get that food. We asked repeatedly. We were told they were short staffed but only had a 7 or so tables. We kept having to ask to have drinks refilled. The sashimi itself was fresh and thickly sliced which was nice. The appetizers were really good expect the tuna chips, it was a Pringle and kind of odd and soggy. The rolls we ordered were clearly premade and old and still took 50 minutes to get to us. The most frustrating part was having a table of 8 coming in and getting better service and their food much quicker. You have a 2 hour time limit but they couldn’t even bring us the food in that time frame. Very frustrating experience. Hopefully they figure it out because they are asking top dollar compared to others.
