TAKODA is a Beer Garden and rooftop bar in the heart of Shaw. Known for its wide draft beer selection, classic industrial aesthetic, and lively atmosphere, TAKODA has quickly made a name for itself as a D.C. destination since it opened in 2016. Our kitchen opens at 12 pm on Saturdays and Sundays and we will be serving bottomless mimosas and brunch.

The ambiance and view is soooo nice! Watching the sunset from the rooftop and all the people watching on U street from this bar was a great way to spend my Wednesday evening :,) The staff was friendly and eclectic too! Thomas & Micaela met me with a huge smile and warm welcome which was so comforting for someone dining alone at the bar!
It was my first time and they were very patient with me and guided me through the menu, answering all my questions, and gave great recommendations. I got a mojito and it was just how I like it! Well-balanced & not too sweet at all. Happy hour is a steal here too with all of the cocktails under $10.
Although drinks & service was really great, I I do wish they had more vegan options on the menu for plant-based people like me! Aside from that I will definitely be back with a date or some friends 🙂 (lgbtq+ friendly too!!!)

Held a large event at Takoda, who was more than happy to accommodate us despite the size of our party (30+). They set us up on the second floor and had the entire space effectively to ourselves. We were taken care of by a few staff, but especially well by our bartender Quentin, who honestly helped make the event extra special. He took care of all of us, was proactive and thoughtful in getting us what we needed. He handled all of our food and drink orders without issue despite the complexity and everyone in our party enjoyed his service. We would absolutely recommend Takoda and will be back

This was a great venue for a group happy hour/gathering got in an d out outdoors seating with lots of space, the drinks were very good, Batteries reasonably priced for the happy hour and the food was pretty decent itself. But the best part of the experience and the reason why this place gets a five star review it’s because of the bartender that served our group happy hour Amethyst she was a true gemstone absolutely friendly our service was on point and she made everybody feel special. I will definitely go back and see her

This place was perfect for a casual date night with some friends. I loved the vibe and decor and definitely loved the seating on the balcony. It’s a busy part of town so parking can be nearly impossible and it’s not unusual for your time there to be filled with lots of sirens and ambulances passing by or even loud people on motorcycles.
We all decided to go the appetizer route and get one of everything to share. The boneless chicken wings have an amazingly flavorful and crunchy out exterior which is fantastic! The inside is pretty darn juicy, too! But it wasn’t unusual to find a good amount of chewy fat or something going on inside. The truffle fries were super delicious! The old bay tots weren’t overwhelmed by the seasoning, but they were nice and crispy and perfect for dipping in the yummy garlic aïoli. Of the sliders and sandwiches, I personally thought that the barbecue pork was way better than any of the other options. The burger looked pretty boring and I was disappointed in the lack of flavor and the short rib sandwich.

Our server Quentin was incredible. We had a loud and busy party and he was so accommodating and on top of everything. The drinks and food were wonderful and we had an amazing time.

I had a very uncomfortable experience here. The bathroom lock was broken, and as a result another patron walked in on me while I was using the restroom.
When I told staff, they said they were already aware the lock was broken and were “trying to fix it,” but the bathroom was still open and there was no sign posted to warn patrons. My concerns were dismissed.
I also asked to speak with the manager and was told he had left, but I saw him still present in the bar as I was leaving.
This was a preventable situation that could have been handled much better. Basic privacy and safety should be taken seriously.

Amethyst and Eric were phenomenal. Great service and hospitality. Made the experience that much better. Great service=great time. Those two bartender made the experience awesome. Great time at TAKODA, 10/10 would recommend.

Grabbed bottomless brunch here with some friends. The rooftop is a nice vibe though the bar stools can be a bit uncomfortable. Mimosas were yummy..food was just okay to be honest. The eggs could have used more seasoning for one..but I enjoyed the potatoes. Service was pretty decent..I advise uber to get here as parking is impossible.

We were greeted by the amazing bartender, Danielle, who was super cool and offered a warm welcome with great hospitality. The atmosphere was inviting, and Danielle made our visit even more enjoyable.
