Good food, great service. The rice they use has a slight sweetness to it. Doesn’t matter if it’s in the sushi or in the bowls, it’s slightly sweet. Really good portion sizes. Great for dates. The bulgogi kimbop sushi is a must have.

This small, intimate spot is a true find. The sushi is so fresh and delicious. The oyster fries were tasty, though they could have used a bit less dough. The complimentary cinnamon tea adds a warm, cozy touch, and the dried persimmon with walnuts is a delightful, sweet finish. The ramen looked fantastic, so I’ll definitely try it on my next visit. The atmosphere is cute and inviting, and it’s BYOB.

Haven’t ever dined in here, usually order takeout, but today’s experience was even tastier!! The sushi chef and server/sous were both wonderfully friendly and welcoming.
The sushi rolls were delicious and refreshingly cooling after a long day at the lakefront. Their spicy tuna roll is perfectly sauced, and the avocado is always creamy fresh and beautiful. Their miso soup tastes more chicken-y than I’m accustomed too, but it was actually quite good. We also ordered avocado and cucumber maki rolls, and a shrimp tempura roll that comes with sweet potatoes and veggies — so solid! And we tried their Korean beef bowl, which we could only take a few bites of because we ordered more food than we realized. Yay, leftovers!!

The restaurant was absolutely amazing! Best sashimi I’ve ever had. All of the food was delicious, and the staff were so friendly. We loved being there for our friend’s birthday celebration.
The owner and staff were so kind when we had a large party of 12 which took up a good majority of the seats. All meals were served in a great and timely manner. Plus platting was very pretty and atmosphere was fun!

This place is really excellent! The food is thoughtfully prepared, it balances flavors well, and does the classics well while doing new and exciting dishes. Inside is so cute and the service was wonderful. The dishes are aesthetically presented. It makes for a great date night, girls night, sushi night. I’m so glad this opened.

I’ve tried all of the highest rated sushi spots in Chicago and Takibi absolutely takes the #1 spot for me. It’s everything you want from sushi … fresh and delicious ingredients prepared in front of you by an expert in his craft. The head chef is incredible and their sense of hospitality is amazing. It’s a small location with a lot of heart. Takibi has been a place I’ve gone with my partner to celebrate, to mourn, or just to have a nice night out. If you haven’t been you have to go here.

Takibi is everything a local sushi place should be. Friendly, clean, well-priced, quaint, excellent service. But they don’t stop there. The quality of the food is top-notch. They carry your expected sushi restaurant items, but also interesting “chef-y” items like the Halloween special: smoked tuna tataki (that they smoke themselves!) with a pumpkin sauce (or maybe pumpkin seed, I didn’t get it so don’t remember). So creative.
I started with the oyster tempura. Not your standard tempura batter, but more like crispy breading. And oh so crispy. Perfectly deep fried and not a drop of grease. Big, fat, plump oysters, what’s not to love? Everything else was just as delicious.
It’s no-charge BYOB so it’s easy on the wallet. I’ll be back.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. Truly my favorite sushi spot and no other place i’ve been to can even compare to Takibi. The chef/owner has an eye for detail and recognizes the importance of good service. The rolls are always amazing but the nigiri is deliciously paired with small toppings that complement the flavors perfectly. I haven’t tried any of the ramen, however, if it’s anything like the rest of the food, i’m sure it’s amazing.

I found this new place (maybe a new owner), and I am glad I did. It’s a small and quiet place. I found out that the owner is an artist and has drawings that he drew displayed on the wall. This explains how his carefully prepared dishes are delicious and artistic. Highly recommend.
