I was introduced to this restaurant by my Framingham friends who go to the establishment once a week, and it’s become my favorite restaurant in the area. Everyone on staff is attentive, friendly, and always make me feel welcome when I visit, greeting me with the title of ‘cousin’. The food is also delicious and speedily served, and consistently well-made. I highly recommend the kamikaze roll and miso soup for food, and the green bubble tea for drinks.

I recently dined at Takara in Wayland, and the food was shockingly bad. Every dish we ordered was extremely bland and completely devoid of flavor. There was no depth, no balance, and barely any seasoning. It tasted flat and lifeless, as if even basic salt and acidity had been forgotten. Japanese cuisine is known for precision and nuance, but what we were served lacked both. It was not simply underwhelming. It was genuinely poor quality.
We also ordered a side of calamari, which was practically inedible. The texture was rubbery and difficult to chew, and there was no flavor to make up for it. It felt carelessly prepared and not worth serving to customers.
The service compounded the disappointment. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived, yet our group was seated in a corner. Throughout the meal, the waitress spoke to us in a noticeably loud and rushed manner despite there being no other diners. The tone and pacing felt unnecessary and dismissive, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
Given the restaurant’s location in an affluent town where higher standards are expected, this experience was surprising for all the wrong reasons. Between the extremely poor food quality and the uncomfortable service, this is not a place I would recommend.

This is an amazing place, cozy, local excellent specials. They have savings program. The service is invisible yet attentive. A gem.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant.
The drinks and food are amazing.
Just go there!!!
I’m reviewing my notes. Honestly, my last experience at this place was terrible. I had been out of Boston for a while and when I got back, I made the mistake of stopping at this place. I was with my goddaughter, who I hadn’t seen in months. I felt pressured the whole time to order and eat the food. The waitress stopped me while I was taking a picture with my goddaughter to ask if I wanted more food or the check. Details of the food had just been left on our table.
Between the entrance and dinner, we did not spend more than 30 minutes.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

I have never had such terrible sushi before and will never go back. I do NOT recommend this place as the food is not fresh specially the fish. Even the rice wasn’t freshly made and was from days before.
Barroom wasn’t clean.
And right before we leave there was a horrendous smell coming out of the kitchen area (we were sitting at the sushi bar and close to the kitchen door).
I got stomach ache after eating here so stay away. Visited this place on May 27, 2023

What a nice restaurant, the food was well prepared and the ingredients very fresh. The service was quite good as well. There were some different spins on some old classics that I really enjoyed trying as well. I recommend Takara, I will definitely go back.

The food was rather good, the restaurant was nice and pretty large, and the waitress we had was very nice and quick to help. We were in town for a short while, but I’m glad we stopped here. The food was really good, and some of the menu items I hadn’t seen on any other sushi or Japanese food menu, which was great.

Excellent traditional Japanese fare — the lunch menu/specials are an exceptionally good deal. Takara has two locations in MetroWest and we enjoy both of them. The Wayland location has a better sushi/drinks bar set-up, and I prefer the Medfield location dining room (more spacious and light). Ample parking at the Wayland restaurant.

Ordered takeout and the fish is not fresh and smells like ammonia. Unacceptable. My wife is currently throwing up. I will be contacting the Wayland board of health after this.

We loved this classic authentic restaurant! We ordered a sushi boat there , so fancy! Great chicken tempura and the chicken yum yum was divine! A direct hit with the kids. Sushi was very light and scrumptious.
