We have not eaten here for awhile, but decided to go there for a change because we usually go to Koto for hibachi because it is closer to home. Boy did we get sticker shock. My husband always orders filet, my son shrimp and I get the two coldwater lobster tails. Here is the price difference. Filet…Takaoka $40, Koto $29. Shrimp….Takaoka $36, Koto $24. Two lobsters…Takaoka $54, Koto $41. With 20% tip and 8% tax the bill was $166 at Takaoka (we had no drinks, appetizers, etc just the entrees). At Koto that exact same meal is $120, That is a HUGE difference in price, not to mention Takaoka, unlike Koto, has terrible ventilation..it is really smokey. The food and chef were good though, but not worth a $46 price difference for the same food for three people

My friends and I went to Takaoka of Japan for the first day of Savor Fort Wayne. Admittedly I had not been there for years, but we decided to go. It was an excellent experience. We purchased off the Savor Menu. Most of the group had the Filet Mignon Habachi Dinner. It came with soup and salad. Habachi shrimp, vegetables and steamed or fired rice. Everything was cooked perfectly. The shrimp was not over-cooked. The filet was medium rare as requested. Plus, you get the show. Our cook was very entertaining. Great dining experience.

I love❤️ Takaoka of Japan❤️✨️ ✨️. I have been here many times in my life. Such a Classi ❤️ in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I had my birthday celebrated here when I turned 22 or 23. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ overall.

My husband and I love this place it’s our favorite. This experience was very irritating. Our chef ignored my husband and I in favor of our very boisterous table mates. We did however get a front and center view of the trash bowl. This was our anniversary dinner.

If you want to be treated like a herd of cattle, this is the place to go. They weren’t in a hurry to get you seated but once you were seated the goal was to get you out. Each stage of the meal was given to you before we were even close to completing the previous one. Two birthday desserts were served half way through the main meal. Servers tried to pickup some of our plates while we were still eating from them. Will NEVER go back. This place is a joke.

This is my first time coming, and it was amazing! The show was fun to see! The hostess was funny and welcoming! The waitresses and waiters and busboys, everybody was super attentive.I literally didn’t have to ask for anything. It was like they read my mind from refilling my drink to giving me boxes to helping me bag it up everything! Will be coming here in the future and bring my kids next time 🙂

The good is really good!! I gave 2 stars because for years we keep going back and enjoying the good and the chef. We always feel rushed out Taking our plates is fine but rushing us so that they can give the table to someone else. I know it goes with the kind of cooking at the table but it makes me have anxiety!! And they don’t give you time to relax Don’t know if we will go back Also very very salty and a lot of butter In very thirsty for hours….where else could we go for birthdays?????

Such a fun place! The staff are top-notch and everyone is super kind, friendly and professional. We came here to celebrate our baby’s gender reveal, and it was so special how into it the staff got and made our experience above and beyond amazing. Such a good group of people who genuinely care for customers and their experiences. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Mark our “chef”, Tony the “hostess” and the manager with her two daughters were all so kind. We can’t wait to come back!

Wow, where do I start? My husband and I went here for a dinner date recently and we were both extremely impressed. The atmosphere is phenomenal! It’s a super cool location too, right near an old fort and upstairs of what I though was a fancy restaurant. While you do have to climb stairs I think I saw an elevator for wheelchair users, so it is accessible. Every member of the staff is kind and super friendly. I assume this is a popular birthday dinner location since we heard the staff singing their birthday song lot over the course of the evening. Definitely a popular place for families to bring their kids to! Maybe we will bring our kids some time soon. The hostess asked if we had a reservation. We did not, but were lucky enough to get seated quickly. It may be a good idea to make a reservation in the future.

I want to say we had Mark as a chef for the night, but I could be mixing up names due to the hot sake I drank haha. He was entertaining and so, so nice. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for anything. Everyone at our table always had a full drink and the soup and salad bowls were promptly removed after we were done.

Speaking of the soup, it was so flavorful! So much better than other hibachi restaurants I’ve been to. As for the salad, I loved the dressing, but my husband found it a bit too creamy. Other hibachi restaurants I have been to gives you one single shrimp for the appetizer but here we got several shrimps! Almost enough for a side of shrimp! I wasn’t expecting that but I sure did enjoy it lol! The veggies, delicious and cooked perfectly. The fried rice was good. I felt it needed something else. Maybe a dash more soy sauce. Our dinner entrees were fantastic–I got the scallops (they were massive!) and chicken combination and my husband got the steak hibachi (so tender!). He almost always finishes his plate but saved some to bring home. I always end up bringing some home for later. The portions are huge! After dinner they brought us a cup of delicious hot tea.

While this place may be slightly pricy for us (it’s also over an hour away), it is well worth it! We will certainly be back for a birthday or date!
