We ordered the Mushroom Masala Thali, which included mushroom masala, spinach dal, the vegetable curry of the day, raita, rice, naan, and mango custard. Every item was exceptionally well-prepared and flavorful. Even the onion pakora served as a starter was outstanding. I highly recommend this place.

We knew we had to try this place because it makes the entire mile radius surrounding it smell like heaven! We got the Chicken Tikka dinner and the Chicken Vindaloo dinner, both were absolutely phenomenal. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and the portions are so big! Everything was perfect! Bend is not a big city and I was passing by. I had to get lunch and I was finding a good option. Somehow this one spotted my eyes and I came in without expecting too high given the location.
I was wrong. This place was big pleasant surprise. Decent selection of curries on their buffet and the restaurant was maintained clean. Also decent service and curries have good amount of spice inside and used good ingredients. If I am passing by Bend again, I will visit again.

I’ve been eating Taj since they first opened in downtown Bend. Honestly I used to eat there at least once a week for years. They’ve since moved from downtown, I’m sure it’s because Bend has become ( ) hard to afford. Regardless the Taj Palace hasn’t skipped a beat they are still the same amazing food I used to eat all the time!! Such epic food and the most friendly place and people ever! If you’re looking for a recommendation for what/where to eat, this is it. Go to Taj Palace and eat their truly delicious food!! My favorite is the lunch buffet!! If you read this and follow my advice, you’re welcome.

I took my son to Taj Palace for his 13th birthday because we’ve enjoyed the lunch buffet in the past. This visit was nothing like what we’ve experienced before. We arrived at 1:00 and the buffet was in rough shape. About half of the food was out, most looked old, and the quality was far below what I expected. The chicken tikka masala was in a white sauce and didn’t look right. The rice was cold and dry. There was no naan available. The whole setup looked like it had been sitting out too long, even though lunch is listed until 2:30.
The server brought us a plate of naan when I asked, which was kind, but the buffet never improved. I ate one bite of the tikka masala. My son ate a few bites of chicken and some watermelon. We were there for fifteen minutes. When I asked if anything could be done on the bill since we barely ate, I was told no. I still paid the full $35 and tipped.
This was supposed to be a special birthday lunch. Instead, it was a disappointing and expensive mistake. I hope the restaurant takes a serious look at their lunch service, because the quality was unacceptable. We certainly won’t be returning.

We are thrilled Taj has relocated to the southeast side of bend. We’ve been twice in the past week. Looking forward to many more delicious culinary adventures here. The hospitality is refreshingly pleasant and friendly as well as skilled in the art of excellent service. And, the variety of their menu is impressive. We’ve had both the lunch buffet and ordered off the menu. Friday and Saturday is the dinner buffet. I know what I’m doing this weekend!! If you didn’t get a chance to enjoy their delicious exotic food and good company downtown (there’s now plenty of off street parking in their lot!!!), now is your chance to discover these fine people and the cuisine. My oh my I have a lot of ground to cover here. The parking lot was packed, but there’s plenty, restaurant was very busy at 6:00, and still a few booths available so there’s lots of room here. I watched as walk-ins of 5, 7, 10 were quickly seated. Staff greeted patrons and 90% of customers were repeat patrons and treated like family. It’s so nice to see this kind of hospitality. Food was deeeeeeeelishiussss. They also have a bustling take out. Doesn’t that sound awesome???? I’ll try this next. So far I have only wonderful things to say about Taj Palace. Consistently a delightful experience.
