Taj Palace Cuisine of India was a pleasant surprise in a small-town setting. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, exceeding expectations. What really stood out was the quick service—our order arrived within minutes without compromising on taste or quality. The menu offers a good selection of Indian dishes, and everything we tried tasted fresh and satisfying. Overall, it’s a great spot for anyone looking for quality Indian food with efficient service, especially in an unexpected location. Ambience was good. Definitely worth stopping by.

Taj mahal is my go to indian place here in slo. Food comes out hot and very tasty. I got the chicken tikka masala and the mali cofta which both had very deep flavors and the rice was cooked perfectly. Got a serving of cold rice pudding which was a very tasty desert. 5/5 experience highly recommend

Worst food ever.
They serve stale and unhealthy foods.
Their food colouring is next level and restaurants and toilets are super dirty.
Wasted my money.
Would not recommend anyone.

We ordered kulchas, naans, tandoori rotis, veg pilau, baingan barta, veg jalfrezi, dal makhani, shahi paneer, dal soup orange juice etc. Rotis and naans were burnt. Everything else tasted ok. But the service was very rude. There was no water served or at the table. When asked about it, they served water in very dirty plastic jug. Especially, the owner was pretty rude while taking order. The quantity of food is very small for the price we paid. It’s not a good experience.

Ordered many times from here, but quality of the food seems to be getting worse every time I order. My most recent order of Chicken Tikka Masala tasted so bitter (which is not how it’s supposed to taste), tasted almost if it was spoiled and was still served to me anyway. The chicken also had some raw bits, which was a major health hazard. The naans they serve for takeout are very stale and look weeks old. Do not recommend eating here ever.

Delicious Indian food at this restaurant. We had Shahi Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala and they both were amazing. Portion sizes were also good. Servers are very friendly. Their mango lassi is also worth the try. Overall really good place to stop by on road trip of US-1.

Food is average below, We tried a couple of veg and non veg items during thaanks giving day. We dont have the option to choose as everything is closed. After 1 hour wait time we got a table around 3:30. MANGO LASSI is watery. Paneer gravy is only Tomato puree, and it’s sour. Chicken briyani and mutton gravy taste the same masala. Tandoori chicken has a lot of food color. Overall, I felt it’s average below.

Food was delicious though one of the dishes tasted off so we were given a replacement that was very yummy. Overall very good not excellent because portions are a little on the small side considering price and there was only 1 server who was very busy. Not his fault & he did an excellent job handling many tables & many take out orders. We will definitely be back

We ordered dal and chicken tikka . Chicken was not at all cooked , nauseating to eat half cooked chicken and the dal had a stale smell to it . Looks like it was cooked a week ago and was served. Had to trash all the food . Won’t visit again or recommend to others for sure .

Unfortunately I don’t think there are any *great* Indian restaurants in SLO (I’m comparing them to restaurants in SoCal and the Bay Area, plus homemade food from my Indian friend), but we do go there occasionally to get our Indian food fix. Probably our favorite thing is the Samosa appetizer, which is super tasty with the two accompanying sauces. We recently ordered chicken tikka, one of my favorite dishes, and it was extremely dry. I can’t say whether it was merely overcooked, but it actually made me wonder if it was reheated leftovers from their buffet. It reminded me of reheated leftovers at home. I love that at home, but I don’t expect to feel like I’m eating that in a restaurant. Lastly the service is always mediocre. Not horrible, definitely not great, slightly below average, and not particularly friendly.
