But let’s talk about the food, specifically the Birria Barbacoa. It is, without a doubt, the star of the show and perhaps the best taco I have ever had. The slow-cooked beef is incredibly tender, seasoned to perfection, and practically melts in your mouth. Dipping it into the rich consommé is a non-negotiable step—it takes the flavor profile to an unbelievable level. This dish alone is worth the trip!
Equally impressive was the service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and had excellent recommendations. They made us feel welcome from start to finish, ensuring our drinks were topped off and checking in at just the right times. The staff clearly takes pride in what they do, contributing to the overall fantastic vibe of the restaurant.
OH Taco is a must-visit destination in Sandusky. Incredible Birria Barbacoa, a wonderful atmosphere, and top-tier service combine to make this an easy five-star review!
The bartenders are splendid. Very down-to-earth and talkative. Whether you’re a party of one or a dozen, you’ll get your drink served with a smile and good conversation.
As far as food, I only tried their version of a Reese’s pie with M&M’s. It. Was. Awesome! It was so decadent but without being overly so. The portion was big but my stomach wanted seconds. Thankfully, my brain knew to keep it in moderation, especially with some adult beverages.
OH Taco is a fun place to spend some time, have a few laughs, dance a bit, or just enjoy the ambiance.
I will return next time I’m in town but I’ m hoping she won’t be there.
I’ve visited Oh TAco a few times with friends, and unfortunately, my experiences have been inconsistent and ultimately disappointing.
My first visit left a positive impression with excellent service and delicious crafted margaritas. The street tacos were decent, but the drinks were the highlight. However, my second visit for my birthday was a letdown. We waited 45 minutes for our first round of drinks, and the quality was noticeably lower than my previous experience. The food was just okay, and the service felt rushed.
On my last visit, we decided to try a full dinner. The drinks arrived faster this time and were good, but the food was a major disappointment. It didn’t taste authentically Mexican, and three out of four of us got sick afterward.
Overall, Oh TAco’s trendy and funky atmosphere is appealing, but the inconsistent service and subpar food quality have left a negative impression. It’s unfortunate because this place has potential, but until they improve the food and service, I’ll be skipping it on my future visits to Sandusky.
1) a “nice to have” was a place on the water, I didn’t know it at the time but this place (while not right on the water) had an awesome outdoor area with a killer view of Erie. Although not the most seating in the world you go before or after the rush hours you should have no problem getting something outside.
2) the chips and salsa were fantastic!
3) the guacamole with goat cheese and honey was sooo unique and delicious. Owner, if you are reading this I would love the recipe! =)
4) the margs were awesome! They have a really good tequila selection and honestly very good prices. We tried a few different ones and they were all fantastic
5) the tacos were a smash! Not the largest tacos in the world but perfect size to crush 2 or 3. I got the carnitas (awesome), the steak (also really good and very simple), and honestly my favorite was the cheaper shredded chicken taco, it just had chicken, lettuce, pico and cheese, and it was something about how simple and flavorful everything was that made it my
Favorite.
6) the churros were fantastic. Highly
Recommend.
7) and finally.. the service was killer.. our waitress, Gabby I think, did a phenomenal job and made us feel part of the family.
If/when I make it back up to this area I
Will definitely be going back, even if out of
My way!
She did not come back to refill our drinks and when we asked for her. She came over after about 15 minutes. We asked for some refills. She literally said “what did you say?” No excuse me, sorry I’m slow or overworked or anything else. Came back with the drinks and the bill after another long time, layed them all down at the end of the table and walked off. Never said one word! This was after all the food was finished and our mouths were dry!
It kind of ruined the celebration that was for my grandson’s birthday dinner. He picked your place. That was a mistake. Hopefully on another day and another waitress ….things would improve!
