Culinary Creator Vivek Surti honors his heritage through the South Asian American cuisine that is representative of Surti being a first generation American of Indian descent. At Tailor Nashville, guests are welcomed and enjoy a coursed meal that is explained by the chefs with high touch service. Tailor is open Thursday – Saturday for dinner service and on Sunday for lunch and dinner.

Perfectly curated dining experience with the chef at Tailor. Each dish has a story and really feels like you dive deep into a unique experience and approach to food informed by Nashville but firmly rooted in the specific traditions of one family in India and their personal cookbook. We had the pleasure of sitting at the counter so could see each dish and the care that the staff brought to the preparation. As the menu changes seasonally getting into each dish isn’t useful but I will say they were creative packed with deep flavors but didn’t feel pretentious. Think expertly prepared but homey. The wine pairing brought some of the best wines I’ve had in quite sometime out to complement the dishes. I’m usually not one to get pairings but it’s a must here they really do match well and bring out new notes and interactions with the dishes. The best part is no one else in Nash is really focusing on this cuisine served like this so if you are looking for an elevated curtated coursed out dining experience in Nashville this is a one of one right now. Some practicalities: come hungry it’s a robust menu. From a price standpoint do be cogzient of the add ons like the pairing that was a little more than the meal cost or skipping that, cocktails in the 18 dollar range. It’s worth it of course but keep in mind if you are in anyway concerned on budget because it does add up. Parking is a paid lot but free street parking is around. The atmosphere is very nice certainly allows for you to dress up but can accommodate the less formal. We loved the chef’s playlist going in the background. In short if you are checking out the higher end of Nashville food scene Tailor is a must try. We’ll be adding it to our rotation.

Southern comfort food with Indian inspiration! The experience from the moment walking in the door, in the bar, to the last moment after the chai was such an experience. Each course was perfectly plated and portioned for a tasteful experience. Personally, I think the ‘soup & salad’ was my favorite part of the meal. It was unbelievably delicious! The main course was also delicious and got better with every bite. We did the drink pairing and I highly recommend that! The chef came and talked to our group and we had such a wonderful time. I can’t wait to go back for a new menu!

This is the best dining experience in Nashville. We have excellent, Michelin-quality food at a number of places in Nashville, but I cannot think of a better dining experience than Chef Vivek Surti’s Tailor. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is innovative, the vibe is welcoming….all without even an ounce of pretentiousness (this is SO hard to find with top tier tasting menus). The fusion of the American South and Indian flavors formed some of the more unique flavors I have ever experienced. Chef Vivek Surti will speak to you about each dish, and will even walk around and speak to you personally about your meal. It feels as if you were invited into his home. If this place does not get a star next year, I will have lost some faith in the Michelin Guide. I absolutely cannot wait to come back.

We really enjoyed the experience here, felt like eating at someone’s home. Every dish was unique. The atmosphere is very welcoming. I loved the vibe and music which made it feel less pretentious.
The fish dishes stood out and I liked that they didn’t overwhelm the salmon with too much spice. We took any extra they offered and didn’t regret it. Caviar… Yes. Truffles…. Please!
The mutton courses were all amazing. One was similar to a steak while another was braised and served with rice/lentils/broth. Tough to say which one I liked better.
We sat at the chef bar. I felt like the premium price was worth it. View of the chef’s working is always great. We were first to be served each course. We received some off-menu extras, one of which was probably my favorite thing of the night.
We’ll definitely be back to try their other seasonal menus.

One of my all time favorite dining experiences. The menu is preset so you sign up ahead of time with any dietary restrictions, requests etc., and you just enjoy the night as you are told a story of the cuisine as you have it. The style is relaxed and presented as a family dinner served at home.
We did the spirit free drink pairing as vegetarians, and all of us came away with multiple favorites from the experience. The owner also comes around to converse and serve, which is one of the many examples of the intention this place holds.
As lovely as their main dishes were, their appetizers were my favorite part. Whether you grew up with desi food or are new to it, this will be a night to remember.
