Taiko is always my favorite sushi place in Irvine. Food always amazing especially seafood salad, cucumber special w/ crab, salmon boat and more.

Taiko Sushi offers a delightful culinary experience, especially when it comes to their California hand roll. The explosion of flavor and the fresh, high-quality ingredients truly stand out, making each bite an absolute delight.

I have been coming here for 20 years. I know that ownership has changed and it has been a year since I was last here but the quality of the fish and food has gone down significantly. I am so disappointed because this use to be my spot. The thing that set Taiko apart from the others was quality fish and rice at affordable prices. But as you can see from the California roll, it now looks like any other Japanese restaurant that you would go to. The salmon use to be fresh tasting, but this one left an oceany after taste. The albacore tasted like it had been left out and been around for days. I am so upset about this. Such a sad day. An institution of my childhood and young adulthood has changed so drastically for the worse.

Solid spot for a nice Japanese meal. The chicken teriyaki is well cooked, their niku udon is warm and has good flavor. Personally have tried better sushi elsewhere but still a good spot.

Taiko has always been in Irvine for as long as I’ve known, like a loyal friend. Offering decent and filling meals but lacking any standouts that would make it great.

This was a pretty nice spot for some Japanese food. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The food is brought very quickly as well, and tastes very good. The dine-in entrance is in the back, which is a little weird. Tamago rolls were amazing here, one of the best we tried. They have plastic utensils, which is strange. The service is fantastic, though, very attentive and responsive. Good sushi, slightly over grilled teriyaki chicken, but still good, nice green iced tea. We had a to-go order, which was well-packed and brought after we finished.

Dark and smelly place, sushi was not well rolled, all of them fell apart, crab was fake crab chopped small with tons of mayo, shrimp was not fresh, fish was not good quality

Not coming back. 3 plates of sushi ( salmon anubi, dynamite, crunchy) all were not good. Grilled calamari was great. Sashimi was not great.

Super nice staff and very quickly receive order. Cute authentic place, lots of locals and Japanese here so I’m guessing they know good sushi! Large pieces of sashimi and giant rolls but just not much flavor… like it was previously frozen. Teriyaki chicken bowl was massive. Definitely will had leftovers. The green tea mochi was delish!
