Walking into Taggarts Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant is a step back into time. The original marble counter tops have withstood thousands of elbows and sundae dishes during their tenure here. The high-backed, maple booths and (now antique) soda fountain were brought in by Joe Taggart when he took over in the twenties.
Nostalgia is an important side dish but customers would not keep coming back if the trip down memory lane did not include something good to eat. Taggarts offers delicious made from scratch food, made by veteran staffers using time-tested recipes. However, ice cream is king here. If it can be scooped, dipped, mixed, or poured, Taggarts has it. By far, the most famous Taggarts legacy is the Bittner – invented in 1931!
Classic ice cream parlor established in 1926 serving frozen treats plus sandwiches & soups.

Extremely kind, the food is amazing. French Onion is best I’ve had anywhere. Prices are very good even when you eat as much as me (a lot). Mozzarella sticks are also the best anywhere. Great atmosphere, good vibes, food was out fast.

Excellent place. They have an extensive menu. Affordable prices. Loved our burgers, Antipasto Salad, Fries basket, but especially their famous “Kitchen Sink Ice-cream “: 6 scoops of different flavors with homemade hot fudge, strawberry and caramel toppings, whipped cream, pecans, ground nuts, marshmallows and a cherry on top. It’s not over powering, so it’s big, and two people can eat it easily. My only complaint would be, there are way too many flies and big gnats flying around us and the food the whole hour we were there. It was super annoying and stressful. So instead of enjoying our food and conversation, we had to spend our enery and time in keeping the bugs away from our food and surrounding area. And, we also wondered how many of those pesky bugs already touched our food. I know it’s Summer, but they should try to eliminate those annoyances. Other than that, they rock!

Im lactose and tolerant. Yet theor ice cream and treats are good to me. Tastey amd fresh. Real ice cream. Not the store bought preservatives that make your stomach upset. Their hours are long, so you can stop by later in the evening.

Taggarts is an absolute must-visit if you’re anywhere near Canton, Ohio! This place is a local legend for a reason — the ice cream up north just hits different, and you can really taste the quality here. Their old-fashioned sundaes and signature Bittner are amazing — so creamy and rich, with that nostalgic flavor you can’t get from big chains. The shop itself is super charming and feels like stepping back in time. Friendly staff, generous portions, and a true local favorite.

I’ve lived in this area for 26 years, and have been a customer the whole time. I love this place and their food is delicious. I think they truly have the best ice cream ever. I have had issues recently though, that when I call in an order they usually get it wrong. The amount of times I’ve had to have them remake my order or I get home and it’s wrong, It’s now gotten to the point that I check it before I leave. On top of that the line is insanely long. There could be three people in front of you and it’ll take half an hour, just to pay for your order that you can see on the counter getting cold.

Expected better but that’s what happens when you expect!! Tried an early dinner, 1/2 lb hamburger was disappointing, my Fiancé grill cheese was good. Now the Ice Cream, I am an Ice Cream Connoisseur so with that being said, not impressed. I had the Buckeye Sundae, too many buckeyes and fudge, took away from the whole sundae, my fiancé had a butterscotch sundae and was not thrilled. OK but not top tier.

2/28/26 i called in at 745 just to ask a question and i was rudely helped by a young lady who only said “we’re not taking call in orders at this time” and hung up on me. a business starts with customer service… i will not be trying this restaurant due to this reason. please retrain staff to be courteous first and address the concerns of the customers before assuming i’m calling in to order food.

A Canton institution! Great coneys, soups, burgers, olive nut sandwiches, Tuna melts, among other things. Best vanilla ice cream ever, we go there just for their Vanilla ice cream, and that’s not my go to ice cream flavor normally. We love their Buckeye Sundae and Chocolate Covered Cherry Sundae, worth a trip just for these. The kids love the Unicorn Sundae. Still our favorite!

Some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had! I got a chunky monkey sundae which has banana ice cream, pecans, chocolate chips, hot fudge and peanut butter.
