I also got a plain lassi, and it was really good and perfect for cooling down if you like your food a little spicy. The menu is simple, but it works. My only request would be to add a classic chicken curry someday.
Overall, a solid and satisfying Indian spot.
We ordered butter chicken, chicken kadai, chicken biryani, and daal tadka, and everything had excellent flavor and tasted authentic. The food was truly delicious.
When we asked why the restaurant is named Tadka 96, the owner shared the beautiful story behind the name related to her and her husband, which made the experience even more special.
The staff was very nice and welcoming.
We loved the food and will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!
Every now and then, you come across a place that feels like a well-kept secret — this is one of them. Tucked away off highway 96 in League City, this Indian restaurant serves some of the most soulful, home-style food I’ve ever had.
There’s no flashy signage, no gimmicks — just the comforting aroma of fresh ingredients and the kind of care you can taste in every bite. The menu is small and focused, and the Tikka Masala is on another level.
There’s nowhere else like it around. It feels more like being welcomed into someone’s kitchen than dining out. Worth every mile, and then some.
Every dish was bursting with flavor! The kadai was savory, bold, and spicy. I absolutely will be going back here. Also, they were so kind!!! I asked for recommendations for my next visit and they said to try the biryani (Saturday and Sunday only), butter chicken, and shrimp curry.
Highly recommend!!!! Please support this gem of a restaurant!
Finding the location takes a little attention since it’s tucked away in a small strip center off Highway 96, past the busier areas. The signage isn’t loud, and the space is cozy — but don’t let that fool you. What awaits inside is pure magic.
The restaurant is run by a humble and incredibly kind mother-and-son team. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted like family. The mother personally came out to meet us and shared how everything on the menu is cooked daily from scratch, using her own homemade recipes. And honestly, the food spoke for itself before we even heard the story — it was absolutely bursting with authentic flavor, rich spices, and love in every bite. Learning about the care and tradition behind the dishes made the whole experience even more special.
Then came the desserts — and this was a revelation. The mother makes her own ice cream fresh every day, free of preservatives, with a texture that’s silky smooth, almost like Italian gelato. She offers unique flavors you won’t find in a typical ice cream shop, like rose (made with petals from her own garden ), mango, pistachio, and coconut. Every bite was stunningly delicious and refreshing. She even told us some people come just for her ice cream — and now I completely understand why.
TADKA 96 isn’t just about incredible food — it’s about the feeling you get while you’re there. It feels like being welcomed into someone’s home, served with warmth, pride, and genuine hospitality. This is the kind of family-owned gem that deserves to be celebrated.
✨ If you love Indian food, you have to try it. If you love ice cream, you have to try it. Trust me — you will not be disappointed. We’ll definitely be back, and this may just become our new favorite spot.
The staff were warm and attentive, and the restaurant had a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that made it a great place to unwind. To top it off, the homemade ice cream was absolutely delicious — the perfect sweet finish to an amazing meal.
Overall, this is a gem of a restaurant. Excellent food, friendly service, and great value. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious food in League City. The food was like Home cooking.
