We love this place. The only snafu is my wife ordered chicken birria tacos and they brought beef. We sent them back and they brought back one chicken taco but also the other two tacos were beef. The manager did pay for my wife’s meal which was good. I left three stars because the food here is really good and the manager made it right.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LUNCH BREAK HERE!!!!
I don’t even know what the food tastes like because I had to leave after 45 minutes of waiting.
Edited because as I was walking out they bagged my food up, I ate them at work and let me say these are some of the best asada tacos ever. Just wish I had checked for salsa and queso fresco.

After a weekend that was totally out of control, my hubby and I were like, ‘Time out, let’s take a breather!’ So we cruised over to Gruene (which, can I just say, I am completely and totally in love with?) and landed at Tacos & Tequila. I couldn’t finish my drink, my margarita was the size of a beach ball and it was not all ice. Freshly made eats, check. Insanely delicious Mexican food, check. Leftovers for 7 whole days, check! It’s official, this place is one of our fave Mexican spots in San Antonio – and that’s no small feat, considering we’ve got more Mexican restaurants here than Utah’s got churches!

Our waiter and other staff were courteous and professional. The flautas, rice and refried beans were all good, not great but good. The guacamole was mixed with oxidized brown guacamole throughout, although not spoiled it indicated that it was stored open to the air for several hours. We mentioned this to the waiter staff who kindly yet mistakenly explained this is what guacamole does. I explained to them how to properly store completely sealed with no air gaps it so that it does not oxidize. Then I went on to explain that removing the browned oxidized portion before serving is a better practice in food service. Though not actually spoiled it does make the guacamole taste bitter. The did not charge us for the guacamole, so that was a big positive. This is the third meal we have eaten at this friendly place. Every meal has had one meal item that did not meet standard, one time the rice was way too salty, another time it was the beans that were too dry, almost a crust on the refried beans. So, this will likely be our last visit. Again the staff were friendly and the place appears to be clean.

Harrison & Madison were a great. Did a good job for me on my Tito‘s and Sprite Plus followed up by my multiple tall Modelo‘s and Carne Asada fries… I was here with The head honcho of one of the companies that hires us regularly, and we were very happy to have good company from the bartender that was in our presence in the right times and out of our way at the right times, thanks guys appreciate the convenience and lack of annoyance.

10/10 by far the best place we’ve tried in new braunfels! Cheyenne was great and helped us with the menu and drinks. We got the Mini cantaritos and gruespitas. Super yummy.

My family of four went on a cold, windy afternoon and our host and waiter went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us comfortable. They moved us from a windy location by the playground (where I originally wanted to sit so the kids could play!), to a cozy spot on the patio blocked by the wind. Oscar was an incredible server and immediately brought us chips and took our order for some hungry kiddos. He was so prompt and professional, with a great attitude and big smile! The host even brought over a large heater to our table to warm us up even more—talk about a great experience!!! Food was phenomenal as well. Chicken and beef birria=exceptional!

Great place and getting better! They are adding a stage for live music. Outdoor seating is phenomenal and the indoor is great too! It seem to be an old historical building and they kept what they could when restoring it and looks nice! The food is hands down excellent, and they give you good portions for a low price. Servers were very attentive and on top of it. Wish there was one of these in my little hometown!

Building is okay. I sat on top of an AC unit, it was cold as heck. We sat for 45 min at the bar waiting to be seated. They removed us from the wait list and I went up several times to remind them we were here. I quote, “oh, I could’ve sworn we sat you.”
When we finally sat, we ordered and waited another hour. After this time passed, our waitress came out and notified us that they RAN OUT OF RICE.
The chips and salsa are excellent. But geez, for expensive as heck mexican food, yalls service sucks.
Edit to lower stars because we got our food. Yeah this place SUCKS. IF YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE, just doordash McDonald’s for cheaper

DANG!!! I’ve been coming to a location at this restaurant for 40 years. This new version is by far, no, beyond far the best yet. They managed to keep the atmosphere of the old structure while making it even more enjoyable. The menu was completely updated and excellent. The frozen margaritas are out of this world. I highly recommend coming to Tacos Y Tequila. Oh, and ask for Cheyenne. She’s an amazing waitress.
