Appetizers
The guacamole was fresh with a nice kick of spice, and the chips were plentiful. For $7.50, it was a good portion to share between two people and have leftovers.

Drinks
We got the Agua Fresca Tamarindo in the “small” size, though “small” was definitely an understatement. Flavorful and refreshing.

Mains
We tried a variety of tacos: carne asada, chorizo, barbacoa, and the star of the show, the trompo. The trompo meat is cooked on a rotating spit, packed with flavor, and an absolute must-try. We’d recommend the barbacoa as it packs a lot of flavor.

The Papa Asada is a baked potato loaded with trompo meat, carne asada, sour cream, and cheese. It’s quite filling on its own and offers a unique mix of flavors. Definitely try it if you’re looking for something a bit different.

️ Service
Our server was warm and attentive. She gave great recommendations and checked in on us throughout the meal.

⭐ Overall Rating: (4/5)
A small hole-in-the-wall spot with cozy seating and authentic flavors. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and great value for your money. Parking in the plaza can be questionable, but overall, it was a wonderful experience.

By far our favorite taco in Charlotte. The prices are ideal and they keep the menu to traditional authentic tacos and tortas. Don’t forget the bottled coca cola. I recommend trying them all

Don’t let the small space fool you! Tucked back in this strip mall is a little taqueria serving amazing tacos! I had the trompo and carne asada, both were amazing and the red and green sauces were very tasty as well. I like the green sauces best, it had more kick to it. Can’t wait to come back to try some of their other dishes

We had such a great experience here! One of our friends is vegetarian, and the chef thoughtfully prepared a special dish for them and even surprised us by not charging for it. The food was fresh, flavorful, and full of authentic Mexican taste. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the hospitality!

I found this Mexican spot through TikTok and decided to drive 2.5 hours to try it with my sisters.

Pros: best prices in the area, good portions, clean, fast service, accept all forms of payment, ample parking, various selections, salsa is spicy, and the staff was super kind and attentive.

Tacos de trompo – Rate 6.5/10
The pork was a bit too salty. I had to drown mine in lime to balance it out. Tortillas tasted like the reheated packaged kind, definitely not handmade. The limes were also dry/old, barely yielded any juice.

Horchata – Rate 4/10
Unfortunately, this was a big miss for all three of us. ☹️ It had a bad aftertaste—almost like protein powder or artificial packaging. One of my sisters asked to exchange it for the agua de jamaica (hibiscus water), but that ended up being overly sugary so she diluted it with water. I’m not picky, but the horchata was very disappointing. We did not even drink 1/4 of the horchata, it was hard to ignore the aftertaste.

Tortas: My sisters tried the steak and chicken tortas and had no complaints. They enjoyed them.

*Disclaimer: I may be a harsh critic, but I’ll be honest. My family is from Mexico and I grew up in the restaurant business in which we made everything from scratch. Additionally, my mom cooks homemade Mexican food daily so my standards are probably higher than most. I left a 30% tip because the waitress and the cashier were so kind. This review is to inform people who were expecting the homemade taste like I was*

I hadn’t visited in ages, so first of all, I’m glad to say the food is still just as delicious as I remember (but whew, I did not remember the salsa on the Tlaquepaque tacos being quite so spicy – and I *love* spicy). They were incredibly busy during our visit, so we wound up having to wait about thirty minutes between finishing our meals and receiving our check (after asking for it). Not the end of the world, but just be sure to budget a little extra time for your meal.

The best tacos I have ever in the US!
My family is from Monterrey and I can say this place nailed it! Tacos de trompo that taste just like the ones back in Monterrey.

The owner was very kind and attentive. Service was great! Small place but def exceeded expectations.

It’s basically kind of a hole in the wall/dive kind of place. I tried it based on a recommendation from a customer of mine who said he worked there. For what little I paid for a couple of tacos, I suppose I shouldn’t complain. But what I got was awful. Tiny tacos topped with some kind of meat that was so tough and tasteless that it was barely edible. If you want tacos, go to Taco Bell or an actual Mexican restaurant.

Tacos Regio is located in a miniature strip mall. It’s easy to miss while driving down the street. The restaurant has a wonderful ambience with Mexican favorites. I had tacos and a quesadilla. It wasn’t bad…just wasn’t as delicious as I had hoped. The service was great and the restaurant gets busy very fast.

The service was good, fast, but the food was very disappointing to me, tacos al pastor don’t taste like Mexican ones, the size it’s very small for the price, tripa was burned, they don’t serve any cucumbers or radishes, only cilantro and onion, the atmosphere was tight, the local it was crowded.
