Lakeland BBQ Company / Polk City BBQ Company was born out of the desire to bring competition quality BBQ to your plate each and every day. Pitmaster Joel has been in the restaurant and catering business for the past 15+ years and has a passion for BBQ. He has competed in both FBA and KCBS Professional BBQ competitions. Good Buddies Competition BBQ team finished 4th overall in Florida BBQ in the 2015 season achieving two Grand Champions, 2 Reserve Grand Champions, 3rd Overall in Chicken, 3rd Overall in Pork and 5th Overall in Brisket. In addition, opened the Lakeland BBQ Company, LLC brand in 2015. We offer fresh made BBQ Daily in house as well as many catering options for the Central Florida area. Corporate to Weddings we cater it all!

My now husband and I have been going to eat at their Polk City location for years and we first found out about them back in 2022 and we were hooked since then! Absolutely love their food and had them deliver catering at our wedding this past Saturday and they did not disappoint! Everything was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend them if you’re looking for a quick bite or to cater!

Finally was able to stop in to try. It was okay but not worth us returning. Got a brisket sandwich and a halff chicken lunch special. The brisket sandwich won garlic toast was a real good size. The meat was so steaming hot like with was sitting in boiling water or had been microwaved. I could not touch it for a few minutes. It was not dry but had a weird taste to it. It had no smoke flavor whatsoever. The bottom bread was saggy from the juice it was sitting in I think. As for the chick it was a big half bird. It to had not smoke flavor or lacked seasoning. The breast was dried out. The side of green beans had not taste like you would expect from a side. I think I got sick from that sandwich later as that was main item I had eaten that day

Had the best lunch at Polk City BBQ before a Tigers spring training game. Conveniently located 20 minutes from the stadium. Came for the brisket, but stayed for the Brunswick stew! Everything was awesome. Got the sampler platter and loved the sides!

Anytime we pass through Polk county we make it a point to stop and enjoy a meal here. Friendly staff, great food and affordable. Highly recommend the General Van Fleet. Easily feeds 4 people. Our favorite sides include the apple slaw, potato salad, Mac & cheese and of course their cornbread!

They freaking worst bbq i ever had. I knew i should of kept going to Sonnys in Lakeland. Their sides suck no flavor, seasoning and taste straight out if a can especially those nasty green beans. Chicken dry as. Only meat moist was brisket it was pretty decent. I got the platter. Ribs was so small and dried out the dog wouldn’t eat it. Skip this place go to Lakeland for bbq. The desserts was good.

Pretty fantastic BBQ! I was really excited for the pulled pork and the mac ‘n cheese, but the mac wasn’t all that good You do get quite a bit of food for the price, which is always awesome! The staff is friendly, the restaurant itself is tiny and the tables are really close together, but good food and good people.
