We were looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant that we never had before and found this quaint little spot located at 20 Main St. In Lambertville, NJ. I had the shrimp chimichanga, and the misses had enchiladas. we shared massive chicken nachos. The service was good it was like being at a Spanish friend’s house for dinner. The food was good and very authentic as we met some of the gentlemen from the kitchen. We will definitely eat here again!

I’m sure their meat dishes are fine but their vegetarian options are just so so and the same price as their meat entrees. Ordered the veggie fajita and it was loaded with soggy waterlogged vegetables. Broccoli, yellow squash, zucchini and cauliflower. The proper vegetables, peppers and onions were cooked to hell and limp as well. Minimal rice portions, Cuban black beans served instead of pinto or refried traditional beans and overpriced menu.

I’m so happy this place survived Covid! It’s been a few years since I’ve been there. But today, I was able to stop in after my bike ride for lunch. I had the tacos Al pastor…pork with sweet pineapple..yum. The tacos here are the best tacos I’ve ever had. I like the green and red sauce it comes with (the red edging out a small lead). They both have a small kick, just enough to enhance the flavors but not overpower with heat. You need to eat it right away when it is warm to experience gastric bliss. Each taco is balanced, fresh and loaded with flavor. (note, It doesn’t disintegrate even after a 30 minute ride home but make sure to microwave it to get it warm again). Squirt a little lime on it and take a bite. It’s taste bud sensory overload for me. The small grilled baby onion is a nice touch. They are very sweet and tender. Then there is the 1/2 roasted green pepper ( jalapeños perhaps?). I’m not big into spicy food but I wanted to try it so I scraped out the seeds and took a bite. Man, It’s hot!

The birria tacos with consomme – get them while they’re hot! The platters are pretty much unanimously fabulous. The mole oaxacana was proclaimed to be “just like my abuela’s” and prompted nostalgia waxing. What more can one ask for?

I love coming here for one dish and that’s the Pollo Relleno ala Casa (see pic I added). The manager gave me two juices to try and they were both bangin’. Will be back for the same dish as always. And the staff is very friendly. Also, the patio area, weather permitted, is one of my favorite byob spots to hang.

My go-to stop for Mexican cuisine! Great tasting food! You can tell that the freshest ingredients are being used. The portions are generous and you are guaranteed leftovers. Everything is also priced fairly. Give em a try when visiting the area.
