It was okay. The adobada fries were no where close to the other location on Imperial ave. The meat was dry and burnt. I would never recommend that plate at this location. The mini tacos were ok. The only thing that tasted good was the shrimp quesataco! That tasted really good and would be the only thing I would order from here.

I knew this place initially as “Taqueria La Imperial,” an under-the-radar authentic Baja-style taqueria in Spring Valley that is part of a chain started in Tijuana. During a visit this past summer, I found the name had changed to “Taqueria Los Famosos,” even though the restaurant is under the same ownership. The interior is the same. The people working there are the same. The menu is mostly the same, though when I tried to order a “Suadero Taco,” I was told they don’t do suadero anymore. Apparently suadero is low-margin. Good to know.
Instead of the suadero I came here for, I ordered the “Buche Taco.” Buche, essentially sliced pig stomach, is one of the least offal-like popular offal meats traditionally put into tacos. Buche’s neutral pork flavor and chewy texture make it a popular meat to enjoy in a taco by itself, or as part of a carnitas surtida. Here, the buche is cooked so that it is a bit crispy in addition to having its characteristic chewiness. This is a different buche texture than what I’m used to, but one that I welcomed. The browning on the meat created additional flavor.
The taco to eat here, however, is the “Carne Asada Taco.” Taqueria Los Famosos sells a cowboy’s carne asada, one that is filled with mesquite smoke and heavily-seasoned. The strips of beef are tender, but still need to be chewed, as smoked beef ought to. The first time I had this taco, the taco came was dressed with pinto beans, which I liked. Since the name change, they do not add beans to this taco. I hose it down with the squeeze-bottle salsa roja (bottle is in the refrigerator), which is probably unnecessary but nonetheless satisfying.
If you’re like me, you will definitely be tempted by the sight and smell of a trompo spinning around while its glistening al pastor pork browns behind the counter. Once the meat is carved off into a tortilla and made into an “Adobada Taco,” you’ll notice how crispy the crust is here from the adobo marinade caramelizing and mixing with the fats from the meat. But, moreover, because it’s been on a trompo for a while due to everyone else ordering burritos and fries. (This may also be why we can’t have suadero.) No worries, because I actually enjoy crispy al pastor, especially here — where the flavor is sweet, a little piquant, but mostly straightforward. Despite what their menu currently indicates, they do not sauce the Adobada Taco anymore, so be prepared to add your own salsa. As with the Carne Asada Taco, I suggest the salsa roja.

My favorite place. I just tried the Campechana Cali Burrito. It’s just like a California Burrito, but with Carne Asada and Adobada Al Pastor mixed in with the cheese sour cream and fries. New favorite burrito. Ask about the new Papas con Carne. It’s like a loaded baked potato on crack! It’s a mashed potato with cheese any meat on the menu of you choice, guacamole and cilantro. It comes with crispy corn tortillas as well (tostada shells). Exclusive to this restaurant!

Saw this small place down the street from a job I was on and decided to give it a try. I was happy to see the different varieties of tacos they had but quickly saddened when the 2 kinds I wanted they didnt have. I ended up trying the adobada tacos. Man am I glad I did. The meet was well seasoned and pretty moist. The salsa they use was good with a mild heat and a little smokiness from what tasted like poblano peppers. I must say they were pretty tasty and a lot better than some other places in the area.

Tonight was my second time visiting this Mexican restaurant. I purchased a carne asada quesadilla and a can soda. I liked both their green and red salsa. The green one though is a little better than the red one due to tastiness and spiciness. I did like the quesadilla yet I consider it to be over priced and it simply has cheese with meat. The quesadilla is priced at $9.49 in dollars. No vegetables are included on the side or inside like cilantro and onions. I would recommend adding those two veggie ingredients inside, and even carrots or radish and a jalapeño on the side to give as an idea.

When I called I already knew right away the lady attending me had a attitude but I still order nicely asked for 3 adobada tacos with ONLY guacamole she even repeated my order but when I arrived at my house with my food my tacos had everything except guacamole. I heard this place has good food but always do something wrong in the order and some employees had bad customer service and I can confirm this is true. Once this place gets better customer service, it can be 5 stars but until then it deserves 3 stars.

The best carne asada tacos! No joke! These guys grill just enough for your order and isn’t sitting already chopped in a bowl like every taco shop out there.
*Update*
Under new management sadly not the same as before. Lowered to 2 stars.

I LOVE this hole in the wall taco shop! Los Famoso is tucked behind another restaurant and is kinda hidden, sandwiched between some apartments and a laundromat. Go find this hidden gem!
They have great, friendly service and delicious food. The capechana cali burrito and fries are ah-mazing! The birria is priced and flavored to perfection. It’s just a great place to get your Mexican comfort food!
