Don Pancho had a vision to create a fast casual Mexican restaurant that would provide true Mexican flavor. This is how the Palenque chain was born. Originally from Sinaloa, Mexico and now a U.S. citizen, Don Pancho originally founded El Pollo Loco© which was a success that led him to open his first Taco Palenque® back in 1987 in Laredo, Texas. Taco Palenque® is mainly known for its authentic Mexican tacos. It has become the ultimate place to spend time with family and friends while enjoying a meal. In fact, positive word of mouth has had a major impact on our satisfied customers. There are several Taco Palenque® locations operating throughout the south region of Texas and are continuing to grow.

This is the original Taco Palenque location. They haven’t lost their touch at all after all the years open. They’re delicious, fast, and shockingly cheap. The salsa bar is a great compliment, as are the free self serve chips. The fajitas are a great option as are the bean and cheese tacos, but skip the pastor. The drive through makes life easier if you’re in a rush.

Good and easy, the tacos are nice and get your tummy full and the free salsas, limes, onion is the cherry on top. Refill aguas frescas, soft fajita, good barbacoa and chorizo potatoes. The guacamole salsa is delicious and the red is hot enough. The place looks a little old but the food is Great and people are very polite.

The food is good, but service was the definitely the worst I’ve ever had there. Ordering drive-thru was somewhat difficult because the lady was literally yelling question after question for our combo order. Which is okay but she was unnecessarily in a rush. I then asked for modifications to my order but the lady seem bothered about it. I asked for specific salsas for my order and was given whatever they wanted. I asked for chips also and did not get any. Our total was given wrong, and so was our change. It wasn’t significant money difference but still. Overall the experience today was very very disappointing.

I’m from the Houston area and we need a restaurant like this! The food was amazing! The building needs a lot of TLC and it was so hot so they probably need a new AC. The food was worth sitting in an above temperature dining room though!

Fast and friendly service, and the food was actually really good. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was rather happy with the flavor of the food and with the portions provided. Precautionary measures during the Covid19 pandemic are actually satifying, although I wasn’t able to get any hand sanitizer, which I believe is due to them providing it to the public before I got there. My family and I were happy with the service, food and overall experience. We will definitely be back.

Do not waste your money and order through Uber eat they will mess up your order or just throw whatever in your bag since your not there to check it out. I got charro beans with literally no beans or meat just juice and also the wrong drink order and tacos with none of the fixings.

Always great service. The atmosphere, during the morning and late afternoon, is quiet and family friendly. Relatively reasonable prices. Food? It depends on what you order. But it’s usually ok. If you are from the surrounding area or are familiar with Danny’s Mexican Restaurants then you should know that some of the dishes are just as good and similarly priced.
