I really enjoyed eating at Taco Mahal. I think the concept is super unique, a fusion blend between Mexican influences and traditional Indian flavors. I ordered the masala fries while waiting for a friend and almost couldn’t stop eating them. The fries come with ketchup and what I believe to be a mild green chutney. The chutney tasted amazing! I would highly recommend. Then, I ordered a chicken tikka masala basmati rice bowl for myself and a chicken tikka masala naan taco for my friend. The bowl was delicious and at around $18, very filling. I liked the addition of guacamole, but I did feel it tasted kind of out of place among the other flavors. And a heads up, the tables are all first come, first served. When I arrived around 5:30 pm on a Friday, it wasn’t packed at all so I got my pick of the tables, but it got busy later on. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Order their butter chicken naan, sauce very creamy . Kashmiri shrimp naan is the best , love the spicy kick and warm naan , love it . Salmon bowl is not that good coz apparently they deep fried the salmon so make it very dry . Their mango lassi taste more like mango yoghurt smoothie but it’s good

What a treat to have JR at this location! He was the most attentive and engaging counter service person I’ve ever had. He made sure our food came out quickly. This was my second time and I am hooked. The naan taco is a very good portion and I recommend getting it garlic. I love the three roti plate and think that is a great portion when you are hungry. The Paneer Tiki Masala was wonderful and the spice level was what I enjoy. It isn’t going to punch you in the face but it is there. I also got the iced chai and would recommend anyone that loves chai to get it. The crunchy Masala fries are very nice but make sure you get two of the brown sauces because it is the best hands down. The second time I got the lamb curry and it was great as well.

Small cozy restaurant selling Indian food and “naan tacos”. My friend and I opted for the bowls and naan which were still very delicious. The mango lassi and masala chai were also REALLY yummy! Definitely going to come back and try the other options!
Note: there’s no bathroom here so make sure to bring handwipes 🙂

Located at 9th and 45th, TacaMahal combines that taco feeling with Indian classic flavors. This is such a great idea because the results are amazing and tasty. I’ve only been there twice, but I definitely see myself being a regular customer. During this last visit I had the three combo roti tacos, (I selected a Paneer Tikka Masala, a Chicken Curry, and a Lamb Kabob). I also addd one samosa. The tacos had varying flavors and textures, but all three were delicious. If you get any kind of curry option, expect it to run into your other pieces. It’s a delicious mess. The samosa, with that great sauce, was so good. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. It’s a nice place for a quick and tasty snack (or a full meal). If you love Indian food, you’re going to love this place. Hope this helps.

The food was really good and the staff was friendly. But only one negative point is that for even basic condiments they charge you money even if you have ordered good amount of food.

I ended up getting a bowl. The flavors of the curries were good. Although the paneer seemed to be stale and some old pcs were mixed in with new ones. Also the texture was pretty tough…didn’t enjoy it!

Big of a gimmicky pun name, just typical Indian dishes placed on naan and calling it a taco ♂️. Still delicious, a bit expensive, gast service.

Fresh, original, and delicious food. Wide range of incredible dishes. One of the best Indian food experiences in the city, hands down.
The staff is friendly and have a lot of care about what they do. My experience is such that I can be confident in saying they care about sustainability and accessibility.
If I could only go to one Indian restaurant for the rest of my life it would be Taco Mahal

A coworker told me to check this place out a few weeks ago so I went to the Hell’s Kitchen spot to try it out. The first thing that got me was that while it was a relatively small location, though enough for a few to sit and eat, was the welcoming ambiance as Taco Mahal has a great inviting look. Getting the Chicken Tikka Masala Naan Taco and the Onion Pakoras, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the taco as that alone is a solid lunch as that naan does a wonderful job holding everything together and the chicken, sauce, yogurt, and leaves come together for a very filling meal. But then came the onion pakoras which I am a sucker for an onion side and this felt like a type of arepa to me with the way the onion and and other herbs/spices come together. With the pakoras was this sweet sauce like a gelatin that works well.
Fast forward to yesterday where I went to the original location near West 4th street with an even better decor, more seating both inside and out, and latin music playing this was great out of the gate. I ended up ordering the same order as before for consistency and of course see how the original location gets it done. Happy to say, that it was another successful venture as that chicken tikka masala naan taco was on point again and the onion pakoras had an extra earthy-ness to them this time around while also having a second sauce available that I didn’t get the first time around and it was this creamy sauce that I very much enjoyed. I also had a chance to speak with the owner Danikkah for a bit who was so sweet and kind and had to mention that this is what NYC eating is all about blending cultures together – in this case Latin and India – to create something unique, fun, and flavorful that you want to come back to again and again and I very much will be doing so and hope others do too.
