Ok, I was told Taco John’s sucked. When we wanted fast Mexican food it has always been Taco Bell…TB…TB. I had to take a chance on somewhere different, so I hit Taco John’s drive through. I ordered a soft taco, a burrito, and Mexi- fries (round potatoes bites). The price was less than TB. Cool. I parked and started my lunch. The taco was fresh and delicious! Better than TB! Next up the bean burrito. Yup, tasted like a bean burrito. Tie with TB. Now the fries…wow! Golden brown on the outside and warm, tenderness on the inside. Salted just right ( I like salt) and I got a bunch of them. 10 out of 10, beats TB’s potatoes like product hands down! I just tried the basic items, but wow! My go to! I’ll try the fancier items next, see if it stays my No.1! Definitely worth a try!

You better check your order before leaving!!! Several times over about 3 months, my order has been WRONG!!! My wife just got home with the WRONG order! I used to love this place. Over the last 20 years there’s been times when I’d be inside or hitting the drive-thru a few times a week, driving from North JC (or Boone, NC when I lived there for a couple of years). The last six months or so it’s been awful, and I finally decided that I’m just done trying.
The food: They’ve gotten my order almost completely incorrect once. Another visit my burrito had so much of that ranch sauce on it that it could’ve been classified as soup. On my last visit the tacos tasted both old and burnt.
The service: Staff (especially manager) is flippant and rude, arguing about a valid coupon, which they admitted long before deciding to honor it. There were practically no customers inside or at the drive-thru and the wait was still 15+ minutes.
The atmosphere: The place is just dirty now. I don’t know what happened but the last few times I was inside the floors were just grimy and covered in dropped food. The bathroom was a mess. The trash cans in the lobby weren’t just overflowing, there were actually full bags of garbage setting beside the (also full) cans right at the entrance the last time I went in.
The best thing I can say now is that there was no wait on my final attempt. Looks like others have already learned from their own bad experiences.
What was my favorite place for a quick bite has lost me. Makes me sad. Whatever has changed there needs to be put right.

After years and years of hoping they bring back mexi rolls. They finally did but they were not the mexi rolls I remember. I feel betrayed cause they didn’t taste the same. I grew up eating these things so I know the ingredients plus I used to work there. What I got was essentially a meat and cheese wrap in a flower tortilla deep fried. I didn’t taste any refried beans which is what used to be in them. Plus they used a thinner tortillas to wrap them in. You are supposed to mix cheese, refried beans, and meat altogether. Then wrap them in a thin tortilla shell for a crispy texture. Though these didn’t taste bad but they are not what I ate all those years ago. This place prices are way too expensive to not get what you paid for. I told my kids to enjoy it cause I won’t go back after this. $45 order to get what felt like a knock off of the original.

I drive 2 hours to go to this Taco John’s closest one to me.always been good until now. No tea, dirty inside with doors coming off of condiment cabinet, restroom dirty with no soap or paper towels. Management or something must have changed recently hopefully they will get it addressed.

I used to love eating here but the last several times have been a terrible experience. The parking lot had trash everywhere, the dining room was filthy, and the bathrooms looked like they had not been cleaned in days. The service was terrible and the manager was rude. No one seemed like they wanted be there or cared about customer service. My fried chicken tacos were drenched in ranch making them inedible. What has happened to this place? Bring back the old management and make this place great again.

If Google allowed cussing in a review, this one would have it. By far, one of the best “darn” taco places I’ve been to. Never even heard the name, “taco john’s” before but I happened to be looking for lunch and whipped in to get some tacos. Definitely the best “freaking” idea I’ve had lately. I tried the Chicken Street Tacos and let me tell ya, DELICIOUS! I’ll be returning much more often to try the many tacos available.

I never liked burritos until I had the steak version here, awesome. If they ever bring back the fish street tacos I’m there! I usually get 3 street tacos, delish.

Just came from there,they were covered up with customers,had to wait for about 25 minutes to get my food but it was hot and very tasty.All the employees were on the ball getting work done.So proud of the job the employees did making sure they satisfied all customers.
