Tried the authentic Hyderabadi Haleem at Tabaq Restaurant in Chicago, it was next level! Properly slow-cooked, rich, and packed with that real Hyderabad ka taste. The texture was smooth, meat perfectly blended, and the fried onions and lemon on top took it to another level. Masala balance was just perfect. If you’re craving true Hyderabad-style Haleem in Chicago close to downtown, this spot is a must try. Definitely going back again!

Chicken Fried Rice & Noodles were absolutely mind-blowing! Full Indian flavor — the spices, the aroma, the masala kick, everything was just perfect. Chicken pieces were soft and juicy, rice was cooked just right, and the noodles had that proper street-style taste.

Tabaq Restaurant near downtown Chicago is hands-down one of the best spots for authentic South Asian cuisine. I recently dined there and was truly impressed with the quality and flavor of their food.
The fish was fresh, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It had just the right amount of spice without overpowering the natural flavor.
The mandi was absolutely delicious. The rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, and the way it was served with tender meat (and sometimes fish!) made it a hearty, satisfying dish. It’s clear they know how to get the flavors just right.
But the highlight for me was the mutton khorma—rich, creamy, and full of deep, complex spice. The mutton was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork, and the gravy was perfect with naan or even just by itself.
Overall, amazing food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

One of the best restaurants in Chicago that brings out authentic South Asian taste. Today we tried their Nehari, Chicken and Beef with Chapati and Paratha, these were superb tasty. If you are looking for Halal South Asian flavor, this is a place for you.

It seems like a quiet place and it’s a bit tucked away, but it’s worth it to check it out. Just head straight to the counter upon entering. The food is amazing, the people behind the counter were pleasant. They patiently explained to us what the dishes were. The spice levels were just right, it was just great. The prices are very affordable too. We had biryani and a goat dish I’m not sure what it’s called, but it was definitely a good recommendation. The Naan was also pretty legit. For sure, we’ll be back!
