This hidden gem was a very pleasant surprise. For the last year we have been religiously going to breakfast at another cafe that we love. This replaced that as our favorite the very first visit. The ambiance is perfect for our personalities, the food was plentiful and delicious and the pricing was quite reasonable. Add in the cost proximity to our home and it can’t be beat. Even parking was a breeze. Another little added bonus was that I think I found the perfect country fried steak.

I cannot believe this hidden gem of a breakfast spot doesn’t have more positive reviews! (Full disclosure—this is our second visit to this restaurant in two years and our experience the first visit was the same as this one!) We are full-time RV’ers who travel all around the country looking for the “perfect breakfast” along our way. Let me now break down what we think is “the perfect breakfast” at a mom and pop style restaurant because this place has it! We walk in to a welcoming sandwich board sign that has specials and some funny jokes. The sign also says it is “seat yourself” and it has plenty of clean booths. As we sit and the waitress welcomes us and is at the table immediately with menus and asking what to drink… 2 coffees of course, one with cream. She brings back 2 coffees, 2 ice waters (without asking) and cream within 2 minutes and then places a full carafe of coffee in between us, then asks us we’re ready to order or need more time… of course we’re ready to order as those of you who know us from our other reviews know we both always order 2 eggs, over easy, bacon, hash browns and english muffins. As we wait, we note that the coffee is good here—freshly brewed with a smooth taste. Our food comes out 10-ish minutes later and is perfectly cooked. The eggs are just right, with runny yolks, but firm whites. The hash browns have the perfect crust and are the best we’ve had in months! And the bacon was thick and cooked until moderately crispy. Even the english muffins were perfectly browned to a crunchy finish. I asked for green Tabasco (which I haven’t been able to find in restaurants lately) and she delivered it! Then, she left us alone for the most part to enjoy our meal. She checked in once while we were eating to see if everything was OK and to drop our check, which was perfect. Towards the end of the meal I placed my card over the check and she immediately picked it up and rang us up. We then enjoyed a final fill up from our carafe. The restaurant is clean, the service is quick, very efficient and friendly and the food is excellent! This has officially become our second favorite mom and pop breakfast restaurant in the nation—and we have visited a lot of restaurants! We will definitely stop again on our next trip through!

So the new hours are 6am to 10 pm. I come in a little after nine and am looked over by the staff actually shutting the place down for about 10 minutes before I’m offered a drink. I then order my meal and ask what soup they have, as it is supposed to come with soup or salad. I’m told they are out of soup and salad. I thought that was weird how can you be out of salad at least it’s lettuce and a few toppings. So I don’t get a starter. (Mind you I’ve dined in other TA restaurants and even closer to closing times as i am a truck driver and enjoy having a cooked meal.) I also hear they are out of mashed potatoes and salmon. This is all striking me very weird. I found out that they are telling people they are out of things that the cook doesn’t want to make more of, because it’s getting close to closing. Not even a month ago I was in a TA restaurant in Nebraska 10 minutes before closing and they made sure I got everything I wanted and that was included in my meal. I hope management will look into this! Truck drivers and travelers deserve to have the peace of mind that when they stop in tired and home sick that they have the opportunity to have a good home cooked meal with everything the menu says is available. The food they did have was good but the rush to be able to walk out the door right at 10 and go home at the cost of the customers is unexeptable!

The waitress was rude to begin when i placed my order she got an attitude and said so three sides? I responded no the salad it comes with, one side, and the one I added. She then proceeded to tell me it’s a side even though that’s not how they sell it. The waitress has lack of knowledge. I ordered the CFS with a baked potato and broccoli. The broccoli was beyond disgusting. Had no flavor, was hard, and was old. The CFS has very runny gravy and was very hard to chew. I refused to eat the broccoli and wanted a refund the waitress agreed but didn’t give it to me.

Good ol’ Trash Centers of America, finding yet another way to try my patience. Its not like you can find somewhere else to eat next door, especially when you’re a tired trucker on a reset. Im pretty confident they don’t pay their waitresses enough to keep reasonable hours, yet I somehow doubt TA-Petro has any problems with their profit margin. I recently witnessed a 16 year old waitress on the verge of tears over a short tip at another Petro location in Tennessee. Not very appetizing. Yet another reason to stick with Loves, and I guarantee you’ll have better luck with any Flying J Dennys and likely better prices.
There’s just no excuse.

Ordered a stear burger. No gravy well done. Needless to say it came out with gravy and raw in the middle. The waitress said she would take it back. I just paid and left.
