I not Polish, I am Afro-Asian, and discovered this store about 6 months ago, after visiting the Route 27 Garden Farm market in the same strip mall. I’ve lived in Woodbridge TWP for over 20 years. I love food of all cultures. Their food is quite tasty, I try different things, to include various pierogies. I am hooked on their homemade soups, never too salty. The staff is hard working. The poppy roll, available on Saturdays is great.

The Garden State is well known for being a haven of international cuisine. In many of its cities and towns, one is likely to find a veritable United Nations of restaurants on every street corner.

For Linden, an old-fashioned town situated along the popular Northeast Corridor commuter train, it is a hub for immigrants—home to some of the best Polish cuisine.

Since 2001, this establishment has been translated from the Polish meaning “mermaid” and “symbol of Warsaw,” so I decided on Syrena Polish Deli, which is located at Linden Center.

Upon entering, it was a bit overwhelming as the cozy, clean, cool interior features a grocery store with everything Polish, like canned sauerkraut, mustards, jellies, etc., a deli, and hot food to go.

Step toward the back where one finds everything from pierogies to kielbasa; every bite showcases the authentic flavors of Poland. That is where I decided on takeout as a first-timer. Their menu changes daily.

I went for the Pork Stuffed Cabbage Golabki and Coleslaw. The food was authentic, well seasoned, tastefully delicious, and remained hot. The staff was friendly. The price was comparable to the area.

Can’t wait for a repeat performance, which I can recommend.

I enjoy finding different ethnic shops since thats where you will find the authentic food. It has a little market up front and a hot food station in the back. They have pierogies and a bunch of other stuff. I went with the pork stuffed cabbage. Classic. It was good. I loved that it didn’t fall apart and each component had its own flavor. The mushroom ravioli with bacon and onions was surprisingly light and a nice side. Not too oily or salty. The food was a good price too. I am not always in the mood for Polish food but when I am I will come back.

Mermaid ‍♀️ is amazing how this tiny place is able to pack in all its inventory and customers day in and day out. What’s even more amazing is how much competition they have within a 2 mile radius and it is thriving. The real testament on how well they do, the quality of their cooked foods and the selection it has to offer. It is a bustling hub of culinary delights within the Polish community. Renowned for their prepared lunch counter, the spotlight shines on this culinary delight where I have seen the queue 5-10 people deep. Do not forget the delectable dessert case- it’s a sweet haven. The perpetual buzz of activity extends beyond the store, spilling into the ever-busy parking lot. Dziękuję Syrena

Depends on what hot dishes you choose. Some are great, some average. Most food needs more flavor. Greek fish has Way too much sugar. Ladies that serve food could try to be a bit nicer.
Everything else is great, neat, clean, wide variety of imported items.

This is truly an authentic Polish deli. Everything sold is either imported from Poland or made in the store. They sell store made hot dishes, frozen pierogies, and many kinds of polish meats and sausages, such as kielbasa and sliced deli meats for sandwiches. There is a good variety of canned and jarred polish sauerkraut, pickles, mustards, jellies and jams, as well as desserts. The pierogies and regular kielbasa are excellent. So glad I checked out the reviews on this place. Will definitely be back to try more.

This delivery guy in pictures show fresh open rolls open on the ground while he was opening up doors to his truck and the facility then counting the bread with open hands. This person should not be working as a delivery guy or they should have the orders packed before shipping so that this Nasty person does not open handedly touch the bread.
