Dimly lit and flavorfully striking, Sylvain is an intimate adventure into the French Quarter’s bold flavors and traditions. Entering through the tunnel you get the sense that you’re stepping into a place you shouldn’t really be and Sylvain seems to accentuate that with this secretive environment that feels almost like a cocktail lounge. The service was fantastic with the hostess seating us for our reservation right away and the waiter being incredibly patient and helpful during our dinner. We had someone in our party love the playlist here so much they asked the bartender for it as well. The menu is bold and complex but they were happy to strip it back to basics if needed. It was extremely cold in the restaurant though, so make sure to dress warm, especially in the colder months.
We ordered their cast iron cornbread, chicken sandwich (no pickles or hot sauce), and their special of the night which was a pork-veal mix sausage on a milk bread bun and topped with sauerkraut. The cornbread was dry but the flavor was good. The butter they gave with it had cajun spices infused and gave it a nice zip although it was a bit too salty. Their fried chicken sandwich was delicious, light and crispy with salty shoestring fries that hit the mark. Lastly, their house special of the sausage was great. The sausage itself was well seasoned and the bun was soft and sweet. It was a bit salty with the added sauerkraut but the mix of flavors was still delicious. We also ordered a drink, just erotic not kinky, which was delicious. It’s a bourbon with blackberry and lemon juice that was strong and refreshing at the same time.
Sylvain is a culinary delight surrounded by an area that demands it. The food could be a tick better but it is still very, very good with fantastic service to bolster it. Whether you want a casual dinner or to drink cocktails in the French Quarter, this is a spot that is worth a look and your money, especially if you’re with a big party.

This trip to New Orleans we’ve tried to hit more of the modern fusion, casual fine dining places. We wern’t super hungry so we ordered a salad with blackened mushrooms, and a few sides. The Cornbread was great. Cauliflower salad was well Seasoned.

Oh, yes please. This place was GREAT. Fabulous service, delicious food, and we loved the atmosphere. Dark, candlelit, and excellent music (heavier, but not intrusively loud, so we could all talk easily). The chicken sandwich was super tasty. Everything else was, too. Great to sit at the bar. Got a tip from a local to visit this place and it was sooooo good.

What a wonderful place to have dinner with my daughter! The food was delicious, we split a burger & chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was excellent as were the fries. The burger was ok. And golly the cornbread! Yum! My daughter enjoyed an Old Fashioned and I had a Mule Mocktail.

WOW! That’s what I thought after only my first bite of food! We didn’t have a reservation but still were seated, and during the weekend before Halloween it was fun to see people eating in their costumes. It’s packed tight but for good reason, for good food! I got the short rib and I’m so glad I did! It was the perfect portion and the meat was so dang tender and the veggies paired perfectly. It really elevated my vacation.

Sylvain was incredible. Every single thing we ordered was amazing. The cornbread was unreal, the small plates were full of flavor, and the vibe of the whole place made the night feel special. The service was warm and helpful, and you can tell the staff truly cares about the food and the overall experience. We loved it so much we ended up buying one of each of their shirts before we left.
I even got a compliment on my bat shirt and happily sent them your way. This restaurant is a gem, and I cannot wait to come back.

These were the best fries of my entire life. 6 of us ordered 3 baskets. We couldn’t stop. The service was great. The cocktails were perfect. My favorite was the Not Spicy. Big fan will recommend for people looking for a great cocktail or great pub style food.

My partner and I loved Sylvain. The atmosphere was amazing—special thanks to the hostess for seating us by the window. We started with the mixed green salad, which set the tone for a great meal. Cocktails were spot on, and the burger was one of the best I’ve had in recent memory. The snapper had perfectly crispy skin and paired beautifully with the chilled salad underneath. I wasn’t a fan of the chocolate cake, but my lady loved it—so that’s still a win in my book.

This was a wonderful place for a beautiful meal! The corn bread with the Cajun butter was something dreams are made out of. It was truly delicious. The outside courtyard was a perfect place for a date night. Every dish we ordered here was made with love. The service was good but not the most welcoming. I’d recommend this place for a date night or a night out with friends.
