Syd’s is a local bar and grill that sits on the corner of Logan Street and 8th Street on the Historic Courthouse Square in Downtown Noblesville, Indiana. The Courthouse was built in 1879, and 10 years later the first tavern opened in the new J.L. Evans Building. The tavern benefitted from nearby railroad traffic, and it offered lodging on the upper floors. The building has always been used as a tavern except during the years 1909 to 1933 when alcohol sales were prohibited by the government. Walter Carey and Sid Gill opened Syd’s in 1945 and installed the locally famous shuffleboard game in the middle of the bar. They also coined the familiar Syd’s catch-phrase Howdy Bub. Syd’s became known for its cold drinks and friendly service.
Comfy American cornerstone in a historical building with food & drink specials, plus shuffleboard.

Seems like the type of place that’s been around for years. Service was perfectly fine. The burger was quite good and was clearly cooked over an open flame. It was awesome. My wife commented that her salad was good and very fresh.

The food was good. Prices are reasonable. Service was great, attentive, kind, and social. The bar area and lounge are very nice looking and comfortable. The family restaurant section is pretty small and very minimal, so definitely a bar, not a family experience. Overall good.

We visited for Kareoke and a bite to eat. We didn’t realize there was a waitress working so after waiting a few, we went to the bar to order some sodas as we were parched. I did notice that the waitress did come out and offered other patrons menus as they entered several times but did not come to our table. We later asked for a menu but again, waitress never came to table to take an order. We asked the bartender for an appetizer thinking we would get some food going. Waitress never came. We sang and returned to the bar for drinks but the table was filled with cups, a plate and 30 dollars in pull tabs. I bused the table. We spent around 85 dollars. 55 was bar tab. Bartender was great and we enjoyed socializing with so many nice patrons of the bar. This place is like a real life cheers. Good bunch of folks! Left a bit confused as to why waitress wouldn’t stop at our table. First time at Sids and not from nearby. I would have liked to eat a meal but ended up skipping dinner. Also, I’m a generous tipper but could not justify leaving a tip on a table abandoned by any service whatsoever. What gives? I get not wanting to “share” tips but the place was packed and we had to stand in line for subsequent drinks as the bartender was so busy. Good way to loose money for the bar and the staff. We would have spent double with a waitress serving us and would be happy to tip you both for your service.

Spent the evening here recently with friends. Food and drink reasonably priced but service poor as always. There were two ladies behind bar but didn’t leave bar to wait on others. We went up to bar most times to make order. And bussed our own table. There was a younger kid walking around in some kind of sweat pants, but i didnt notice him doing much! Having said all that, hire some staff to wait on your customers. Not sure what will happen when the basement bar opens! Service needs improved

Great place! The staff is always on top of things. In the occasion that a band is playing it can be loud. I recommend checking out the upstairs.

Syd’s is my favorite place now to have a good meal and a good cocktail. Katie, Angel, and Ryan make sitting at the bar enjoyable; their service is outstanding! I love the pork tenderloin sandwich and I never had one growing up and I’m obsessed with it! Their food and service is better than some of the fine dining establishments I’ve been to over the years. Syd’s is not pretentious; the good food, good service, and kind people are why I will continue to come back!

Good food at a reasonable price. I got the chili (excellent) and a Ruben Sandwich. I really enjoyed the old pub feel. A great spot to get a few drinks and get some pun food. The service was very good as well.

My first time was a success! The fried pickles were fresh and delicious! Nice little side salad to go with it too! Definitely recommend the breaded pork tenderloin. The bartender was very friendly and helpful!

Lyzzy was fantastic. I was visiting from Boston and she really took care of my group. Friendly, conversational and the red hair is great: she’s a real gem for this bar. Please promote her.

Went there with family after Christmas. Ordered nachos, not worth getting if you want chips , barely any cheese, I asked for no onions, they put onions on it. I can’t believe they charged $13.00 for it. We’ve ate there before and it’s been good but hard to justify paying that amount for pathetic nacho supreme, which I’m not sure where the supreme came in. Take it off your menu or give people their money’s worth!
