Great atmosphere. Bar and dining area were fun. Staff were fantastic despite obviously being very short handed. The food was well plated and beautiful. Salmon and Hake were cooked well. Seems like a popular place.

The experience at Swoon was ok but a bit disappointing for my first time there. First the positives: The food was very good. I had a pasta dish with fennel sausage and my boyfriend had the lamb with polenta. We finished off with an espresso and a chocolate torte. All were excellent.
Not so good was the very aloof bordering on inhospitable greeting by the hostess. She was not rude, just not welcoming. When we arrived for our reservation we were given a choice between 2 terrible tables with plenty of better open seating in the restaurant that remained open throughout our meal. The tables looked into some sort of staging area that had no curtain or door to hide it from the customers and the cushioning on the benches was uncomfortable. When I asked the waitress about this she said I should have just asked for a different table. (And I might have with a friendlier more accessible hostess.) Overall, it could have been a great dining experience but my pleasure in the food was muted by the so-so customer service and uncomfortable seating arrangement.
Side note: Their sister restaurant has great food and amazing customer service. I was hoping that Swoon would emulate that experience but maybe it was just a bad night and we can try again.

Stopped into Swoon while driving thru the Catskills, as I’d heard it’s been around awhile. Staff couldn’t be nicer, and the service is super quick. The food is very good, but not exceptional: I dug the kale salad and the fried artichokes are tasty, but nothing particularly special. Linguini with clams was advertised as homemade pasta, but tasted more like dried / packaged to me? Clams were very high quality, though, and super well prepared. Ambiance was also nice, but still just lacking something that kept it from being too warm or inviting. Overall, a very nice place, but nothing especially memorable here.

The food was excellent. Casual place. Service was okay. Our party had to wait a long time for water refills during the meal. Atmosphere was not great because of noise and tables were not well positioned. Also it was pretty expensive for our large group.

Three of us went on a driving tour of New York/Mass/Ct last fall. We spent the night in Hudson and found this restaurant by walking up Main Street. A great choice.
We had a delicious dinner and some wine.
Certainly will go back the next time we are in the area.

Enjoyed our dinner at Swoon, a longstanding Hudson NY establishment.

Service was friendly and attentive. Crispy artichokes were fantastic and bread plate hit all the right notes. Short ribs were pretty good, had some central american spices with nice bright vegetable garnish. Partner had the risotto which was fine, nothing too special.

Desserts were great, highlight was a pumpkin flavored pudding.

Proved why it has remained in business for all these years!

Terrific farm to table restaurant. Loved the fried artichokes, hanger steak, and rack of lamb. Very generous portions. Limited, but decent quality, wines by glass. Lots of quality half bottle options. Local beers. Service friendly and efficient. All in all, a memorable meal without breaking the bank.

We had these tator tot cubes today, and I swear they were so good we literally came back a few hours later with friends just so they could try them too. They were insanely crispy on the outside and somehow soft and fluffy on the inside in a way I’ve never had before. Truly the best tots of my life. And the service was great both times.. super friendly, fast, and just genuinely welcoming. Honestly, those tots alone are worth the trip.

So many 5 star reviews, so I expected better…
Had lunch there, and although the decor is nice, the food and service are fair. The waitress was just going through the motions and gave off a vibe of “I really don’t want to be here.” The only time she smiled, was when she presented the bill. She served the dishes, and never reappeared to make sure all was ok. Beer was served in a warm, regular glass.
The gazpacho soup is excellent! The kale, bean, chorizo and poached eggs are not. There was no runny yolk, the beans were on the bland side, and the single leaf of raw kale (not even a hint of olive oil or seasoning), was shredded under the beans, the chorizo was bland and added no real flavor. The grilled sourdough looked good and tasted great. My partner’s dish was also fair.
For those prices, and considering the competition along Warren Street, you’d think they would try harder.

Had the greatest New Years Eve Dinner at Swoon last night. This restaurant always delivers with inventive specials that fit the season, prepared perfectly. I selected the four course menu, starting with Pate de Campagne (that’s country pate for you) the squid ink risotto with scallops, duck breast for an entree – this came with duck sausage, enoki, hijiki carrots and a cashew butter …such a tasty flavor profile! My date loved her Dayboat Scallop Crudo with yuzu, miso and pickled vegetables (I stole two bites and concur – delicious!). She chose the pan roasted salmon, which was perfectly cooked, just past rare, with a celery root puree, roasted fennel and frisée, topped with an orange ginger sauce. This was just an amazing combination. “A very exciting salmon dish” according to my date. And for dessert? A delectable apple crostata (compliments to the very talented pastry chef!). A perfect way to ring in the New Year. Thank you to the lovely staff and the chef!
