We visited Swiss Louis at Pier 39 and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—full of flavor and clearly made with quality ingredients. Every dish came out perfectly prepared and beautifully presented.

What truly made the experience stand out was the service. The servers were incredibly kind, attentive, and always made sure we had everything we needed. They made us feel welcome and well taken care of the entire time.

The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the location at Pier 39 makes it even more special, with beautiful views and the perfect setting to enjoy a great meal.

I would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and top-notch service. Totally worth it! ✨ ️

I ordered the cioppino, crab, and garlic tomato spaghetti, and everything was absolutely delicious. The cioppino sauce was especially impressive, and the crab was so fresh that my whole family really enjoyed it. We were lucky enough to be seated by the window, and the view was beautiful. The service was also satisfying thanks to the quick serving. It’s a restaurant I’d love to visit again and would definitely recommend.

We celebrated our 11th anniversary here at Swiss Louis and had such a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and the host made sure we had a very romantic spot in the corner by the window. It was such a beautiful view of the bay and the sunset. We had the prawn cocktail and the crab cake and the crab cake was fantastic with a goodly amount of crab in them (not all filler like some places). I had the linguini with fresh clams and my wife had the spaghetti al salmon. Both were incredibly flavorful with the pasta cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the tiramisu and it was also very good. The waitstaff took constant care of us and the owner/manager was so friendly and genuinely cared about our experience, which you don’t always see with locals and tourists! Highly recommend for good food, good views and good people.

I usually don’t prefer eating at hotel or touristy restaurants, but this was the night before my bar exam and I was too tired to go out. It actually surprised me — the pasta was absolutely delicious. The service could have been a bit better, but overall it was a nice experience.

Great views and atmosphere. I only ordered appetizers, but unfortunately unfortunately they were not anything to rave about. The clam chowder was tasty and dense, however the appetizer seafood platter was light and lacked any sort of punch, in my opinion. I want to try the crab cake instead next time.

Dining in a tourist-heavy area is usually not my first choice, but I was pleasantly surprised by Swiss Louis Italian & Seafood Restaurant, located at Pier 39 in San Francisco. The stunning ocean views and a clear sightline to Alcatraz Island made for a memorable setting. On the day I visited, the blue skies seamlessly merged with the ocean — it was truly picture-perfect.

We ordered a variety of dishes, including pasta, pizza, fried calamari, and their signature seafood platter. Every dish was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The calamari was crispy and not greasy, the pasta was rich and flavorful, the pizza had a perfectly crisp crust, and the seafood platter — featuring crab legs, shrimp, and clams — was generous and satisfying.

Many other diners have also commented that this is one of the rare places on Pier 39 that offers both great views and genuinely good food, not just a tourist trap. The service was generally friendly, and window seats are highly recommended — though they tend to fill up fast, so reservations are a good idea.

Yes, prices are definitely on the higher side, but considering the quality of the food and the incredible ambiance, it felt worth it. If you’re looking for a seaside Italian and seafood dining experience in San Francisco, Swiss Louis won’t disappoint. A perfect place to enjoy the view, the food, and a relaxed coastal vibe all in one.

This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever encountered. The waitstaff was extremely rude, and the food was disappointing. While my salmon and vegetables were decent, the vegetables were essentially raw, and the salmon left me with food poisoning. I strongly advise choosing a different restaurant. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the view. It absolutely is not worth your money, time, or the illness that follows.

A Seaside Gem in San Francisco: My Experience at Swiss Louis Italian Restaurant

If you’re wandering around San Francisco’s Embarcadero and craving Italian food with a view, Swiss Louis is a spot worth bookmarking.

Let’s talk about the location first—because that alone is reason enough to go. Ask to be seated at the corner tables where you can see the sea lions or seals basking and playing. It’s a uniquely San Francisco backdrop that turns a simple meal into a mini coastal escape.

The staff at Swiss Louis were incredibly amicable, checking in just enough to make sure we were doing well throughout the meal, without hovering. It gave the whole experience a relaxed and welcoming vibe.

Now for the food: yes, it’s a bit on the pricier side compared to your usual Italian spots, but here’s the trade-off—the portions are generous and the presentation is solid. You’re not just paying for food, but the atmosphere and the service, too.

We ordered pasta and were pleasantly surprised—al dente, just how it should be. The clams were tender, not rubbery (a common misstep at many places). A small thing we appreciated? The bread with garlic butter—warm, soft, flavorful. Honestly, it should be included with pasta orders, but even at $5, it felt worth it.

And don’t stress about taxes—it’s not a big add-on here, so the final bill isn’t too shocking.

Final verdict: Great food, great service, and an even better view. Whether you’re visiting the city or just rediscovering local spots, Swiss Louis is worth a stop—especially if you snag that oceanfront seat.
