I was influenced by Google reviews and very disappointed. We ordered 2 small cheeseburgers, original steak sandwich, large curly fries, small tots, and 2 medium malts for $30. The amount of curly fries were similar to the tots and cost twice as much, so I would have thought the order would be big enough to share. It was not. The burgers were the size of a McDonald’s burger. The steak sandwich was like the school cafeteria in the 70’s with a drizzle of sauce and sprinkle of lettuce. This was not a $5.99 sandwich! The malts were soft serve mixed with chocate syrup with no malt flavor. I feel like we paid twice as much as we should have for what we received. I will close with a positive comment. The young people working were very polite.

Great tasting food and atmosphere. Small portion sizes. Spent $20.23 for 1 burger, 1 corn beef sandwich, large fried mushrooms, and medium chocolate shake.

Food was good but I just felt like the guy serving it either didn’t like his job or he didn’t like people from out of town. Either way you made me feel unwelcome. Again the sandwich was just ok A little skimpy on the meat. Maybe it’s because I only ordered a sandwich but I like to try to place out before I go crazy I’ve been burned several times at little hamburger shacks. All I’m saying is it goes a long way to make someone feel like they’re welcome whenever you’re buying something from them.
If you’re not a local I do not recommend going here you will be treated like you don’t belong and you shouldn’t be in there.

Established in 1967 and the original owner cooked my sandwich.
Had the Mountain Cheeseburger and a vanilla malt. What a unique experience.

I enjoy this locally owned drive in restaurant. Their food is delicious, and fairly reasonably priced. Some of the local High School students work there

Maybe one of the very last of these left in the U.S. this gem on route 66 is a must stop. A simple place, no frills, but thats the charm. The Swiss Steak Sandwich is my fave and I try to visit at least once a year on my annual road trip to STL. For decades I’ve enjoyed this little place. If you ask me, I’d give it a michelin star just for being 100% Americana route 66 gold.
