when you’re just so hungry because you’ve been lake-ing all day that you’re about to keel over, crawl your way to sweet river cafe. treat yourself to a seat outside next to the flowers and get a whiff of that floral scented air. the person working was super sweet and after taking our order, asked if my precious dog child wanted anything and brought her a water bowl. thank you! the chicken salad croissant with chips was fabulous – nice and light and buttery and oh so good! treat yourself to a 3 for $5 mini cupcake deal. you can’t go wrong! just pop em right in your mouth! those frostings are amazing – light and creamy! so once you’re done tanning, water skiing, boating, fishing, whatever – go get yourself a nice meal at this nice cafe.

My mother and I stopped for lunch. Not impressed at all. Actually very disappointed. My chicken bacon roll up was so dry that I asked for some salad dressing to add to it.. I was given a small plastic container…and was charged xtra. My mom’s BLT consisted of a processed piece of chickenlunch meat, one slice of bacon and one tomatoe. It was 1/2 inch thick for $14.50! Server forgot the soup…until we asked and presented our check before we finished. We were not asked if we would like more coffee or anything. $lunch was $39.25 for 2 coffee, one skinny BLT,one dry wrap and a cup of soup.,

This place is a rare gem! A glance at the menu will tell you that you are in for a treat. Three of us stopped by for an impromptu lunch and were happy we did. The sandwich selection includes the usual suspects but also includes such items as a caprese sandwich, turkey, cranberry and brie on a raisiny rye, a marvelous “grown up” grilled cheese and more. Yummm…! The desserts are almost too cute to eat, and oh yes! and their patio is really cute.

Great service and excellent food! I had not been here since the new owner and I didn’t know what to expect. It is great! Had the chicken croissant sandwich, it was delicious with bits of onion and craisins that are wonderful on the palate. There is wine and beer too! I’ll be back for soup and more.

Delicious food, great atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting New London. The dishes include local ingredients and are different than the standard fare you get at other restaurants.
