Talk about well prepared food. Sweet n Savory’s Epicurean Bistro didn’t lie when they said they will prepare good food for you with care.

We took our remaining guests there on Saturday night for a great meal to remember and it was the right call.

For appetizers, we had Egg Rolls, Beet Salad (sorry, the photos disappeared), Elk Carpaccio, Seafood Crepe and Loaded Crepes. While everything tasted good, the Elk Carpaccio and Seafood Crepe stood out. We have to say, THEIR CHEF IS LEGIT!

For main dish:

12oz Root Beer Ribeye-
None of us have thought that a ribeye soaked in root beer would taste good. My son and one of our guests ordered it and both were surprisingly pleased. They said the meat was tender — melted in their mouth — and the horseradish pommes puree made it even better.

Seafood Medley Pasta –
Both my husband and daughter ordered it. It was too creamy for my husband but my daughter liked it. The pasta was al dente. They both expected and wished for bigger scallops instead of bay ones.

1/2 Rack Lamb –
One of my sons thought it was the most tender lamb meat he has had. He was raving about the crispy potatoes that came with it. He meant to share with my other son but that didn’t happen

Pork Schnitzel –
My youngest son is a German food fan because of his foodie friends, hence his desire to try this. His verdict: it leaves much to be desired. But he really loved the sweet potato puree that came with it.

Local Swordfish –
This got a very good review from my son. He said there is a bite to the fish in a good way. The sides are delicious. He was already thinking about returning and trying more of the Chef’s creations.

Gina, our server, greeted us at door with her beautiful smile. She was super attentive the whole time we were there. My kids and guests were so impressed by how nice, gracious and hospitable she was that they even talked about her on our way home. That says something. She should be the standard!

The entire staff and experience were the highlight of our night. We definitely recommend

Four of us had dinner last night for the first time. I had seen postings of this place on Facebook (ILM Foodie Alert) and after reading positive comments and looking at some photos (food looked wonderful), I wanted to try this place.

Their menu had a lot of good items, which made it difficult for all of us to choose.

I ordered the crab cake appetizer, which had a nice spicy cream sauce on top, along with a small mixed green salad. There wasn’t a lot of filler and while there was just white crab meat, it was very tasty and filling. My husband ordered a cup of the chicken tortilla soup, which he said was very good. One friend ordered the crab and roasted red pepper bisque, also very good, and the other had the fried goat cheese salad. All of these appetizers were good sized portions. In fact, the next time I go there, I’ll start with a salad instead of a heavier appetizer.

For our entrees, two of us had the Argentine hanger steak – a 6 oz portion, topped with a chimichurri butter, mashed potatoes and vegetables. I ordered mine rare and it was rare, just the way I like it. My husband had the pork schnitzel that came with a sweet potato puree, sautéed spinach and pickled onions. The fourth person ordered the seafood crepe appetizer as her entrée. I had a small bite and I really liked the flavors of the lobster cream sauce.

Everything was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals. What we also really liked was the reasonably priced menu. Entrées ranged from $15 to $25. The wines and cocktails were also well priced.

We also had Key lime pie for dessert. Very tarty and not overly sweet.

The service was excellent, from the manager Regina (or is she the owner?), and our waiter Leo.

We found the restaurant to be a cozy place with its brick interior and seating for about 50 people; plus a bar that seats eight. The music was a little loud, but after asking, it was turned down, making it a pleasant dining experience.

We look forward to our next visit and trying something different on the menu.

This was an unexpected find! If the Bistro were a person, it would carry itself with poise, and easy elegance. The interior was beautiful! The food did not disappoint either – everything was cooked to perfection and artistically presented. We had Caesar Salad, French Onion Soup topped with Gruyère, Beef Wellington, and Seafood Crepe. You absolutely must ask for wine recommendations. The selections were very interesting and paired perfectly!

Cute little restaurant that was a distinctly French restaurant that appears to be transitioning to more European bistro. There was just one waitress/bartender with front of house manager on a Friday evening. Service was good and prompt but it wasn’t overly busy.
We started with a crab cake that was as stated with no fillers but all crab. Accompanied with an aoili that had a little spice to it.
The pork schnitzel was perfectly fried but a little thick and a bit pink by the bone. It had wonderful flavor with a squirt of lemon. The sweet potato puree was a great pairing as it had warm spices added to it. Loved the sauteed spinach with pickled red onions.
The hanger steak was cooked perfectly to order and tender with great seasoning. Paired with Pomme puree and a large amount of delicious vegetables.
Looking forward to returning for a reasonable meal with inexpensive drinks and great food.
Can’t wait to see what Amy and Shawn do with this restaurant.

When we arrived we were seated immediately in an empty restaurant (no reservations were available on their reserve a table app). The kids were starving so we ordered apps and they said they had some bread they could bring out. We had to wait for silverware to eat but once she brought that out, the apps were delicious (African beef egg rolls) although they did not have a meatless option for my mom. We had 3 baskets of dinner rolls (5 rolls each basket). We didn’t know they charge for dinner rolls. It’s not on the menu and no one told us. Do people charge for dinner rolls at other places? I’ve never seen that.
We ordered from the menu which was attractive, but many of the items I had tried before we’re no longer on the menu. The food arrived after almost 40 minutes and had beautiful presentation but lacked seasoning. My husband waited for about 10 minutes until the server returned to ask for salt and pepper. My salad was soggy lettuce (I asked for dressing on the side, it came soaked in dressing) and a couple pieces of candied walnuts. Very disappointing salad to be generously kind.
The Caesar salad my daughter got was mediocre at best. And about 3 times the size of my salad. The steak on my salad was cold and grizzley.
Once we paid the bill the server asked how everything was and I told her all of the above and she just kept saying she was sorry and could she fix it with dessert. But we were walking out the door and didn’t want to wait any longer. We will not be back. I wanted to support this new business but they really need a professional to help them with customer service.

This is a review that is long due. We came here when the restaurant first opening and came here again about 2 years later. It is so nice to see the quality of the food has not changed. It is very delicious and high quality food. The servers are so friendly and attentive. The owner is super friendly as well and everyone was very personable! Ally was our server the first time we came she and Brittany was our server later and they are both awesome! (Sorry if I misspelled your names). The ambience is great but can get a bit loud and hard to hear your table. Overall we love this place! This is the only location that we know that make Beef Wellington, and they make is so deliciously!

Where do I even begin. This was probably the worst dining experience our party of four has ever had at any restaurant. The whole ordeal took exactly two hours and forty-five minutes just to have dinner. We arrived at our reservation time of 7:00 pm, were seated and given a craft cocktail menu detailing about 5-6 specialty drinks. Two of us ordered the same drink, one ordered Kettle One on the rocks, and my husband ordered Tito’s with soda. Fifteen minutes later, our server announces that the two craft cocktails cannot be prepared, because they didn’t have all of the ingredients. Then, another ten minutes passed and she told us that they do not have Kettle One vodka. The fourth drink was not delivered at all until we finally flagged down our server to ask about it. Okay, we have our drinks 25 minutes after we were seated, and place our food orders. My cup of French onion soup was so greasy with fat floating on top that I could barely eat it, and the cup was only filled just over halfway. Very tiny portion. My husband ordered the steak au poivre, which was delivered ten minutes before the rest of our meals. The steak was tough, overcooked, had gristle and was flavorless. I ordered the scallops and asked that the chef sear them really well on both sides. When my meal was finally delivered, the scallops were pure white/opaque on both sides, so I sent it back. Keep in mind that we were each three drinks in at this point due to how long everything was taking. The rest of my party contributed some of their food, so that I would have something to eat while waiting for my seared scallops. At this point, bread and butter had not even been delivered until we asked for it. The scallops finally come to the table, and were so overly salted, that I couldn’t eat them…and I’m a salt lover! Then, the chef came out and really confronted me about why I sent back the first plate. I explained the request I had made, and that my dinner also did not include the potato croquet that was advertised on the weekly menu posted online two days ago (see photo). He grabbed a menu, shoved it in front of me, and pointed out that I was wrong and that the scallops were served with ratatouille this evening. Well, shame on me for not studying the menu that was changed from the one just posted online. Okay, fair enough. That one was on me. However, the chef didn’t even offer to provide one of their other two potato sides, but instead, loudly challenged me in front of other diners until I told him not to speak to me in that tone, which caused somewhat of a scene. No dessert was offered until we had to ask for it, and our glasses and plates were never cleared throughout the entire meal (see photo). As you can see, there were at least 16 glasses on the table! We had to clear them ourselves and place some of the empties on the table behind us (see photo). The only saving grace was the pastry chef. She was lovely, and made the effort to carmelize the sugar on the creme brûlée at our table. All of the starters and mains were underwhelming, but the desserts were fabulous! She is the reason that I gave this restaurant one more star than it deserves. Note that the restaurant was not overly crowded, and there was nobody sitting at the bar. All of the diners that were seated before we arrived had the same long wait for their food. It was not just us. Unbeknownst to the Owner and staff, we went to dinner with friends whose son owns the most popular bar and restaurant on Wrightsville Beach, and they also knew the folks seated at the table next to us; one of which is a prominent political figure in town. Nobody was happy, and I am sorry to say that the word of our dreadful dining experience is going to spread like wildfire. This place really needs to get its act together before any of us will return.

We were able to get one of the last reservations that they had for Christmas Eve. We were so glad that they did. The wine was great, the food was delicious and our server Ally was the best! I got the dungeoness crab bisque and stuffed chicken thigh. My husband got the French onion soup and the ribeye. We will be back!!!!

The restaurant was very clean. We sat at the bar & the service was great. The bread was fantastic, appetizers were good, dinner was possibly the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant & the dessert was delicious. The “only” negative critique we could give is most of the food was too salty.

Unexpected delightful find! We usually eat at the other French restaurant across the parking lot but decided to try this place for lunch and will most definitely be back! The French 75 were perfect start! I had the beet salad with so many little tastes of carrots, red and orange beets & other veggies. The Seafoood crepe was truly savory and not heavy but creamy at the same time! The scallops were tender and plentiful! The shrimp were perfect size and tasty. The microgreens & spinach added a nice touch. The “gravy” and crepe were perfect consistency and combination. The service was spot on. Prices were super reasonable especially for the quality and portion size. Loved the brick walls and ambiance. Go enjoy any meal there! Nice bar too!
