We placed our order together because we specifically wanted to eat at the same time. Pretty simple, right? Apparently not for this restaurant. They brought out only two meals, told us the other two would arrive “right away,” and then disappeared for half an hour. When the food finally came, it was the wrong order. Instead of apologizing, they just shrugged it off with a quick “wrong order” and took the plates back as if wasting our time was normal.
Another 30 minutes passed. We were starving, so the four of us ended up sharing the two dishes that had arrived earlier, something we never planned to do but had no choice. When the waiter eventually returned, he casually said, “One of your meals is ready, and the other is being prepared.” At this point we had already shared everything, and the whole point, having dinner together, was completely ruined.
We politely told them we didn’t want the last meals anymore because they were far too late and the experience was already ruined. Not only did they fail to apologize, but they acted irritated, dismissive, and shockingly rude about the entire situation. There was zero accountability, zero apology, and certainly zero effort to make up for their mistakes. Most decent restaurants at least offer a sincere apology, a discount, or some gesture of goodwill when they mess up this badly. But not here. Instead, they delayed us even further by taking another 20 minutes just to bring the check.
By the end of the night, we were frustrated, hungry, and completely done with this place. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend dinner became an exhausting mess because of their poor service, bad attitude, and total lack of professionalism.
Save yourself the trouble and go literally anywhere else. There are plenty of restaurants that actually care about their customers, respect your time, and know how to treat guests like human beings. This place clearly does not. I will never return, and I strongly recommend others avoid it as well.
Having explored all the Thai dining options in Norman, I can confidently say that none match the culinary excellence of this gem. The standout dish? The Chicken Pad Thai – it’s unrivaled in taste and quality across Norman.
What sets this restaurant apart is its focused menu. They don’t spread themselves thin trying to offer everything. Instead, they excel in what they do offer, ensuring a consistently delightful experience.
A tip for those on the go: the service here is impressively fast! If you’re short on time, a phone order will have your meal ready in just 5 minutes. Highly recommended for both the food and the efficiency!
Service was good, food came out quick! Parking is tricky with it being on Main Street, come with extra time to walk if need be.
Not my favorite Thai spot, but it’s good and a cool spot if you’re in the area.
Fried chicken rolls were good, the tempura was a little weird…
The plates were presented nicely. Could use a bigger portion for the price…
Staff was very kind, we got caught up talking and stayed a little after they closed. They were very polite and worked with us lol
Sophia is truly one of the best servers I’ve ever had anywhere. She has such a great attitude, is incredibly attentive, and makes sure you have everything you need without even having to ask. You can tell she genuinely cares about her job and her customers. She deserves recognition for how hard she works and how kind she is. If you go to Sweet Basil, definitely ask for her!! You won’t be disappointed!
Actually, it was not a busy shift at all. We saw you eating donuts at the counter with no sense of urgency or concern, even though our evening had already been ruined by the lack of attention to our order. And just to be clear, the problem was not the server, in fact, she was polite and genuinely tried her best to handle the situation respectfully. The real issue was your indifference as the person in charge, while you casually ate donuts instead of addressing what happened.
Mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but most places at least care enough to make sure customers leave satisfied. Last night we wasted both our money and our time. We didn’t enjoy our evening, we didn’t receive our food properly, and we even felt disrespected.
This was the first time in my life I experienced such indifference toward customers who had their weekend ruined after a long, exhausting week. And honestly, the only explanation seems to be “ we look different “.
Your restaurant is not the only Thai place in Oklahoma, we have tried others like Thai Delight and Cousin Art, and not only was the food better there, but the staff was also far more respectful. Unfortunately, your food and your behavior were both disappointing.
