i had the coconut shrimp with sweet potato fries and it was pretty good. it was a decent sized portion, and it came with this apricot dipping sauce that was a little weird but not bad. i also tried the lobster ravioli with squid ink last and that was delicious. despite not having reservations and having a larger group of 7, we were seated immediately and the service was very good! overall i was impressed by the food and enjoyed the nautical themed decor

I’ve been looking for a seafood place around here and this one was perfect! We walked past a cool-looking bar with blue fairy lights into a dining room with huge fish tanks filled with fish. It was a perfect atmosphere.
We got oysters and scallops for appetizers. They were delish! I ordered a fried platter of cod, shrimp, oysters and calamari. It was cooked to perfection. My husband got the Lobster pasta and it didn’t disappoint. We had a salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. Our drinks were great too! I had the shipwrecked one.
Our server, Caitlin came by just the right amount of times. She was friendly and we’ll be back to see her!

I was very much looking forward to dinner since it had been more than a week since my last seafood experience (which happened to be on the Gulf coast in Florida). The staff was very nice and we received a warm welcome and attentive service all evening. The facility was clean and refreshing.
The beer selection at Sweeney’s is excellent if you enjoy unique crafts.
For an appetizer we had coconut shrimp which I felt was safe. Although tasty, I didn’t get any indication that is was made in house. It seemed like something I could pick up at the grocery and fry myself. The dipping sauce was good in that it had sweet and heat. My salmon for dinner was near perfect. The shrimp and grits were okay but all flavor was overshadowed by the tomato sauce which reminded me of meatless chili.
Lastly, the key lime pie for dessert was overly tart without balancing sweetness. The lime drizzle tasted like green jello and the crust was gummy instead of crumbly. Overall it zapped the moisture from my mouth and ruined my palette.
I was expecting a better showing for such an expensive dinner.

Our first time here we wanted something new for our anniversary and it was such an excellent choice!! Usually we go to Carrabbas because we like the calamari and been going there for 15 years for our anniversary. We really loved the owner and always treated us special and very personable. They changed owners thou. The food at Sweeney’s was exceptional I had the fisherman’s platter with blackened salmon, raw oysters and fried calamari came with a salad and a side. The raw oysters was the largest oysters I’ve had in any restaurant for along time. The calamari was the best we’ve ever had!! Hands down amazing!! My husband got cheese ravoli and clam chowder soup. Hes not a huge fan of seafood but will eat some seafood. He loved the clam chowder and couldn’t keep him off my calamari. He will be ordering seafood next time lol. Also hot the lobster egg rolls which was a bit small but very good with the dipping sauce. The carmel homemade cheesecake also very good. The atmosphere was very nice felt like we was on the ocean some place in Florida. The bonus part is it’s locally owned and operated And the owner Linda so sweet and very personable very caring. Our waitress needed to smile and be more welcoming but was good service otherwise. We will be putting Sweeney’s on our regular dinner dates places to eat and will be back real soon.

Definitely going back! The price was less than expected. The service was great. I had the fish and grits and my wife had sesame seed encrusted sushi grade yellowfin tuna which was amazing. Our son had the fried jumbo shrimp and fries. I’ve driven past this nestled in restaurant plenty of times and for my first visit I’m ready to go again. Thanks for having us.

I’ve acquired a taste for fresh oysters, so doing my research I’ve found this restaurant that’s close to my home. First off the restaurant is so cozy and romantic, the waiter was so friendly and nice, he wasn’t overbearing and constantly intruding and interrupting my meal with my fiancé. The oysters were huge!!! The biggest oysters I’ve ever had the taste of them were delicious. I also ordered a New York strip that was cooked perfectly. My fiancé ordered Cajun pasta and the presentation and taste was marvelous. The fish tank and fish was so tranquil, my nephew was intrigued by the fish. I look forward to coming back and trying something different from the menu

I have been to Sweeney’s a few times over the years and the food has always been good. A couple of my “jumbo Atlantic scallops” from dinner last visit were disappointing. Our cocktails were awesome and the service was good.

Always enjoy the food here. Great atmosphere and staff is always wonderful to their customers. Salmon Pattie’s appetizers were outstanding! Raw Oysters are a must!!!! For dinner, had the Bay Scallops and Shrimp Farfalle pasta special with added veggies.
Must come if you haven’t yet or come back and try their specials!

Very expensive for the quantity & quality of the food. Ordered scallops & shrimp with bacon grits. Scallops were small & you only get 3. Had them broiled. Requested shrimp fried & they tasted like they were fried in old oil & almost overcooked. Bacon in the grits was not fully cooked & grits were bland. Ordered crab cakes for appetizer & they were the best thing we ordered.
Very disappointed we were looking forward to finding a seafood restaurant with good food……this is not it. On the plus side we were seated right away & it was a short wait for our food (6:30 on a Friday night). We won’t be back. We would have been much happier eating at Red Lobster or Long John Silvers……
