Utterly disappointing after tasting goat biryani, hard to believe it tastes sweet with spice level 5.
Rest of the menu could be good, I’m not sure, but no offence this isn’t the place for biryani
Swad usually never disappoints with their great selections of cuisines, their repeat beckoning and aroma of spices, of course, their great food quality and taste, apart from their apt quantities. Samosas were great with the ideal and fresh natural mint chutney complemented well with their tamarind chutney. The Mulligatawney Soup was very good with lentils and with the nice pick of chicken pieces.
The Chicken Biriyani was really good and you could just sense the rich blend of spices, very fresh and still warm with a great texture of its colors. There were lots of well cooked tender boneless chicken pieces. The Biriyani still had a tinge of the North Indian cooking unlike the popular and authentic Kerala Chicken Biriyani or popularly called the “Dhum Biriyani.” The Raitha served separately was great with cucumbers, carrots and yogurt for the Biriyani which would ideally bring down any excess spiciness felt! It’s good for digestion!
Last, but not least, the Chicken Tikka Masala looked great with its exquisite mix of spices and also with the gorgeous color. It was wonderfully cooked and tasted great! The Customer Service was excellent as well, when I called them. The person whom I spoke to was very patient, courteous and also was very resourceful.
The vegetable mango is good but be warned that it is fermented, so this curry is a bit sour and doesn’t taste like fresh, sweet mango or even under-ripe mango.
The basmati rice was cooked to perfection.
The Lentil (dal) soup was delicate and enjoyable.
I also had aloo (potato) paratha (baked wheat flatbread). The crushed potatoes were very mildly flavored with spices that I could smell but not taste because it was served late and the vegetable mango was, sadly, strong enough to completely block the flavor of the spices in the aloo. If you order this, aloo samosa or another with mildly spiced potatoes, make sure to eat this first or dip it in sauce.
Public, 2-hr parking is to the side, and their parking is in the rear, adequate for the small size of this restaurant.
Swad is much bigger inside than it appears outside, nicely decorated, and has very friendly servers. Can’t wait to visit again!
