Suwun Thai Home Cooking is a heartfelt new addition to the Albany dining scene, bringing the warmth of traditional Thai family recipes to the neighborhood. After a successful 15-years run operating multiple Thai restaurants in New York City, our chef decided to return to their roots, inspired by the simple yet flavorful dishes passed down through generations. Suwun Thai Home Cooking is all about sharing the authentic taste of home-cooked Thai meals, prepared with love and care, to create a dining experience that feels like family. From the moment we reached out, the experience was wonderful. We didn’t have a reservation, but the staff couldn’t have been more kind and accommodating. They did everything they could to seat us as quickly as possible, and even on the phone they were warm, patient, and genuinely gracious. That level of kindness really set the tone for the entire evening.
The food was absolutely outstanding — deeply flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with care. It truly felt like authentic home cooking.
We started with the curry puffs, which were golden, crisp, and full of flavor. The mango fresh summer rolls were incredibly refreshing — light, bright, and easily one of our favorite bites of the night. The Massaman curry was rich and satisfying with and the Pad Thai was some of the best we’ve ever had.
We couldn’t resist dessert the chocolate lava cake was warm and indulgent, and the Thai iced coffee is a must try!
Every single dish was excellent. Combined with the genuinely thoughtful and welcoming staff, Suwun Thai Home Cooking is truly a special place. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

WOW! I am relatively new to Thai food and Suwun Thai has solidified my love for the cuisine. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we were in awe of the attention to detail in the space. It was STUNNING and felt like fine dining without the hefty price tag. The staff was incredibly attentive, helpful and knowledgable. Being new to Thai food, we had a lot of questions. The food was amazing! I had the pla lui saun; which was a crispy flavorful branzino. My wife surprised me for my birthday she had the lamb curry and roti which was delicious as well. The espresso martini was made with really good quality tasting espresso. No notes

I called ahead to see if they could accommodate my celiac disease. The first person I spoke to was very knowledgeable and I was relieved. I had to hang up with them and call back to ask my family a few questions about what they wanted. When I called back to order I had another person on the line and they were just as knowledgeable about my condition.
As they were taking my order they asked lots of questions about gluten free and let me know they made sure to mark it on the order slip.
Like I said the food was delicious. I felt good after eating it and felt good after having the leftovers the next day.

Went here for NYE dinner after seeing the restaurant on TikTok. We were absolutely impressed with the food, the ambiance, and the service. We got a few dishes to share between 4 people and one round of cocktails and the bill was way less than we expected! Everything was so delicious and comforting. We’re super excited to return !

This place is amazing! I have been several times and not once have I been disappointed. The pork jerky is more than delicious. The tamarind duck was cooked perfectly. The cocktails are on point. We ordered the lychee martini and an old fashioned. I’ve dined here for lunch and dinner and Suwun excels on both accounts. Good for groups or a date night!
