Yes, yes, I know it sounds crazy, but I had the best shrimp tempura roll here. I love sushi, and that is a staple roll for me, but something about this one completely blew me away. The roll looked like any other shrimp tempura at first, but it must have been made with extra love. The shrimp had the perfect crisp and texture. It was so good that it honestly made me think about going back right now, even though the place is over an hour away.
I also ordered the spider roll, which was delicious. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. I ordered the Scallop Assassin roll as well, and while it was not my favorite, I do think it is something someone else would enjoy. I ordered online for pickup, so I am wondering if I had a bit of a finger slip when ordering, because it is not a roll I would normally choose. For that reason, I am not knocking off any stars — it just was not for me personally.
The service was quick and patient, allowing me time to look everything over and checking back in at just the right moments. I arrived about an hour before they closed for their lunch break, so I was not there very long, but the atmosphere was quiet, and the restaurant looked clean and well decorated.
Overall, I am adding Sushi Yama to my list for when I am in the area. There are so many rolls I still want to try. Everything felt fairly priced, which I really appreciate — I cannot stand price gouging.

Excellent experience and highly recommend!
The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere. I love the setting. It felt like we were eating in Japan, not some urban DC place.
The service was excellent. We felt welcome and well taken care of from start to finish. The food was also excellent. Very fresh fish and the rolls and everything is made very well.
Five stars across the board without a second thought. I would definitely return and recommend trying this place.

Sushi Yama is our favorite sushi spot in the greater Fairfax County We have been here often as a family and it’s always a pleasant and yummy experience Service is always very good with the staff being extremely friendly and attentive. Best authentic Japanese sushi in the area. I really enjoyed the speciality rolls. I ordered the Smoky Yama and it was tasted very good with a perfect balance of all the different fish and flavours. I also like how the restaurant is decorated throughout and it really adds to the atmosphere. The waiters and service are friendly and I definitely enjoyed eating sushi here!

Great American-style sushi rolls! Their sushi is packed with ingredients and very filling. I wouldn’t call the sushi authentic by any means, but the fish quality is ok and the specialty roll portions are definitely worth their price.
There was no wait on a Sunday evening for my party of 3, and our server was very polite and made sure we were well attended to!
I recommend the Bubba Roll, Yellowtail Deluxe Roll, and Scallop Assassin Roll. I haven’t tried their noodles or rice dishes so I’d be happy to visit again for another quick, casual meal out

Friendly service. Not the biggest of menus but it covers all the bases. Super fresh and tasty fish. A lot of places Ive gone have issues with timing the delivery of all the meals when there’s multiple orders at one table. Not the case here. 3 people 3 separate orders all delivered at the same time. Highly recommended. I’ll be back.
