Service was actually pretty good. The food was very middle of the road. Don’t get me wrong…not bad but not great. The fish was not super tasty or fresh. You could do worse going someplace else but it’s rather spend a bit more to get a really good product.

To be honest, we weren’t expecting too much from here. Boy, we were pleasantly surprised. The food is DELICIOUS. Nigiri. Oyster Shooters. Citrus Yellowtail. Green Lip Mussels. Hamachi Kama. We were so happy and full when we left after dinner tonight. Everything we got was very good. We loved the chicken yakisoba and the Jeni Roll (deep fried) . We started with a delicious appetizer of thier prawns. Wow. The prawn is perfectly cooked and placed on top of a slice of lime that just ultimately makes it a perfect bite. The garlic edamame was so perfect we ate every last one. We are not sushi connoisseurs so the yellowtail texture on top of the Cabo wabo was a little tough for our palettes. It is most likely perfect if you enjoy that type of sushi. The lobster california roll was a great value and so good too. We will definitely be back. And , we found this location via Groupon which made the evening even better by grabbing a great deal there. Go check out this location. You’ll love it.

Super disappointed in sushiyama today. We showed up and ordered a couple special rolls. They were so bland, the spicy tuna had no spice to it at all. The dynamic duo roll had no garlic ponzu sauce on it and the albacore was not seared as the menu stated. I talked to the manager and he claimed that I was wrong that everything that was on the menu was in the roll even though he could see that is the albacore was not seared and there was no garlic ponzu sauce on it all. Super disappointed in the management at sushiyama and probably will never be coming back.

We ordered 3 rolls. Centipede, Rainbow, and Caterpillar. The Centipede was ok as was the Caterpillar. But the various fish on the Rainbow Roll was not fresh, and just kind of sloppy.

They do give a military/veterans discount so that was a plus.
There is an indoor area, seating at the sushi bar, and outdoor enclosure. The parking is really restrictive and difficult to navigate so come prepared to walk if you are concerned for your car.

Great to see a sushi place with vegan and vegetarian options, however only one of the rolls (avocado veggie) was flavorful. The others had a weird mix of veggies and the cucumber wrapped rolls were almost impossible to eat with chopsticks. Would come again but only for the avocado veggie rolls.

Solid and tasty sushi joint, have been here many times. Great offering, great staff, great service. Carlsbad roll is definitely my favorite. Amongst many sushi places in North county these guys are definitely above average. Will continue to order from them. Take out or dine in, I’m never disappointed.
