I stopped by Sushi Rush for lunch this past Wednesday and ordered their Sushi Rush set — 8 pieces of nigiri plus a spicy tuna hand roll for $25. The selection included tuna with wasabi root, seared salmon with mayo, albacore with crispy onion and scallion, yellowtail with yuzu, and a spicy tuna hand roll.

First impression wasn’t great. I was actually the first customer of the day, and they weren’t even open when I arrived. Ordering is done entirely through a self-service kiosk, and there was zero interaction with staff — no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no “thank you” when the food was handed over. It made the experience feel impersonal and rushed.

As for the sushi itself: it was average at best. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing stood out either. The fish was fine, the presentation was decent, and the flavors were okay — just not memorable. For the price point, it felt a bit overpriced for what you get, especially compared to other sushi options in LA.

Overall, it’s convenient if you’re already in Grand Central Market and just need something quick, but the lack of service and the so-so quality make it hard to justify returning. I don’t think I’d go back.

This place is fine but feels like it could be great with some tweaks. I got the 3 pc rush roll set and I really liked the yuzu one but felt like the other two were a bit flavorless. I wish they didn’t put them on the plastic for dine in since it makes it harder to eat since the plastic sticks and doesn’t come out easily. I understand it’s Grand Central so it’s a bit pricier but it did feel like a lot to pay for what I got. They also didn’t really call out orders so I stood there a long time when I think my order had been ready for a while

Every moment I spent at this spot just brought me down one star after the next for this review.

I stood in front of the cashier for probably 10 minutes before I was acknowledged by the woman working behind the counter. It seemed like she was making a shaved ice dessert so I didn’t expect her to drop that and come take my order, but at least say something to a customer waiting right in front of you.

Once I ordered and sat down, I noticed how filthy the counters were. Sticky, sauces everywhere , food crumbs, hairs, sticky sauce bottles . . . it was a mess. Not a care in the world and absolutely no standards for a sushi restaurant.

When my order was handed to me, the napkins wrapped around the chopsticks were all wet and dirty because the girl didn’t clean her hands before giving them.

I ordered the Sushi rush set ($25) and added the Salmon with lemon
and Toro with caviar ($13).

I don’t know what was wrong with all this fish but none of it was fresh. By some miracle, it wasn’t fishy or smelled funky so I figured I’d be okay to eat it.

Every piece of fish had the same taste. That taste? Nothing. There was no taste.

And the texture? Every piece of fish had the same, oddly mush texture.

The rice was hard, falling apart, and tasteless. Since sushi is supposed to be framed around the rice, you would think the rice is the most important factor. Doesn’t seem like it here.

The cuts may look beautiful and you think you’re getting at least decent sushi. But nothing about this is good. $50 down the drain.

Having eaten sushi at everywhere from supermarkets to michelin star restaurants here in LA and in Japan – Sushi Rush won’t be on any of my must visit or return to lists.

The sushi here was incredibly fresh and well-prepared. I was impressed with the quality, especially for such a casual spot. The staff was friendly and everything was served quickly. Highly recommend!

Sushi Rush at Grand Central Market is a must-visit for sushi lovers! We ordered the A5 Wagyu sushi and the Jumbo Scallop sushi—both were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The quality of the ingredients truly stands out, making for an unforgettable sushi experience. Highly recommend!

If you’re hoping for decent food with decent help, don’t. They messed up my order and when I asked for the lady in the front to exchange for the order I paid for, the girl just shook her head at me and refused to even correct her mistake. A simple apology would’ve atleast been appreciated, but I didn’t even get that, just unnecessary attitude completely unwarranted towards me. The food was mid. I guess it too much to ask when there were no customers around or rush. Just look for the infinitely better food and service options around.

Fresh, flavorful sushi with great variety at affordable prices. Service is fast and friendly, and every roll tastes amazing. A go-to spot for delicious sushi in a casual setting.

Wish it would have been better communicated that the $50 omakase when made gluten free = most pieces come w/o any toppings or flavoring & the roe cup becomes a spicy tuna cup. Nearly all pieces fell apart when picked up w chopsticks. Eating counter was messy from previous eaters. No water for drinking. There was one highlight: the scallop hand roll/taco/pocket thing.

Delish! If I could go back in time I would order more of the 2 piece offerings rather than the rolls. Everything was good but the Japanese Yellowtail nigiri was top notch. I love the short menu and the speed in which everything was ready, especially on a busy weekend evening.
