I used to visit Roku often but fell off after 2020- and returned, finally. It was wonderful and more warm and welcoming than I remembered- maybe the subtle remodel (or i just forgot how it looked before?). The host was super friendly. Our server Marina was pretty busy, but still gave our decent sized group very good service. We loved the shishito peppers, salmon and tuna sashimi dishes and a few sushi rolls. Ohh and the fish sliders. Marina makes great cocktails too, and the prosecco by the glass is surprisingly better than what most places have.
We were honestly looking for a new happy hour around this area and were very happy with this one, which I don’t even think existed before. Will def be back to make our way around the rest of the menu.

We recently had dinner at Sushi Roku in Santa Monica and overall had a decent experience. The sushi was fresh and nicely presented, but it did not really stand out. The flavors were good, although not especially memorable. When it comes to signature rolls, I would expect more creativity and interesting flavor combinations. Most of them were spicy, which made it harder to try something new or unique.
On the positive side, the service was very good and the location is great for a date night. We also did not get a chance to try their cooked dishes, which might be where the restaurant really shines.
Overall, it is a nice spot, just not as impressive as we hoped when it comes to sushi.

I was in Los Angeles on business and decided to try this sushi restaurant. Service was amazing, and location is Santa Monica downtown so it’s obviously top notch. The food however was a little underwhelming. I ordered the Tokubetsu roll and nigiri crab which were … just OK. Even the wasabi tasted sort of bland. I used the entire wasabi on my plate and it barely had any effect, probably the weakest tasting wasabi I’d ever had.
It’s a very nice restaurant (and pricy of course) so it’s ideal for date nights, I just wish food was a little more imaginative.

Roku was delicious! The rolls, hand rolls, and miso cod were all fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent, our waitress was so kind, and the entire staff was warm and attentive. We sat outside, and when it got a little chilly, they turned on the heat lamps right away, making it super cozy. The cocktails were great too, especially the watermelon margarita. I’ll definitely be back! Oh, and they validate parking, which is always a plus.

I randomly popped in for dinner here and it was terrific. Spicy miso soup, pear salad, and a spider roll were all perfect. In fact this was the best spider roll I’ve had in a long time. The soft shell crab was still warm so they must have fried it to order. There are outdoor tables nicely protected from the wind with a view of the water across the street. Service was good. Not cheap but not out of line with other options. Highly recommend.
