Osaka is a great place to check out.
Conveniently located on the mall in downtown Ithaca. There are parking garages near by if you can’t get a street spot. Parking is free on the weekends and holidays.
A warm and welcoming little shop. The attentive staff had our drinks and appetizers within moments.
The gyoza was crispy and savory. I enjoyed the edamame as well. Their beef bulgogi was an interesting take. The shaved steak and copious onions in a light sauce, not too thickened with sugar.
I enjoyed their sushi sashimi dinner combo. The miso soup was hot and well balanced. Instead of house salad I opted for some seaweed. The bowl was huge! Lightly seasoned and crunchy, so tasty.
The sushi cuts were appropriate sized, quite cold and trimmed well. The sashimi rice was the correct texture and just the right amount of vinegar.
Apparently the soy sauce is all slow sodium, but you could ask for regular. They have a decent selection of desserts too.
I was happy that I popped in on a whim. Check out Osaka today. For a rural town in the middle of upstate New York, the sushi ain’t bad and the service is great. Thank you Osaka for a lovely little lunch on a snowy day.
Sushi was unedible. So bland and blah yucky in my tummy yum seriously
House salad lettuce was rancid
Never had trouble finishing a plate but here we are people
It’s good if you are on a diet because you won’t want to eat food again
I tried takoyaki for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. Full of rich and delicious flavor. I had the shrimp tempura sushi, as well as miso soup and mango boba. I would completely recommend coming to this restaurant.
We got the California Roll, Philadelphia Roll, Alligator Roll, and Okonomiyaki with shrimp shared for three and two pieces of Salmon sashimi for me. The portion was enough for the rolls and I liked the Alligator Roll the most because it was full of flavor with the eel sauce, avocado, and some fish eggs (I forgot the name). Besides, they also have Korean dishes which are placed on the very back of their menu and my friend told me that he tried the duck and it was scrumptious! I guess it’s gonna be my reason to try their food again soon?
The staffs were attentive and friendly, and there was this one staff talked with us by noticing our speaking in our mother tongue language (Bahasa Indonesia) and she told us she was super happy meeting students, especially those who came from Asia as she was originally from Singapore which is super close to Indonesia. She gave us a very warm representation of the restaurant itself! Recommended to those who want to try comfort Asian food either for dine-in or takeouts 🙂
