This sushi restaurant was great. The food was really quite excellent, the atmosphere was buzzing. They had a fish tank by the front door, so of course they get a 5 star rating for atmosphere. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, even with being extremely busy and packed. This was clearly the place to be on a windy cold January Wednesday evening!

My favorite sushi spot in PDX!

Eating at the bar, while Mazi San himself prepares specialty rolls is such a treat the level of care and love that he puts into the food is very special!

If you get to sit at the bar, make sure to ask for the VIP menu and recommendation from the chef

Cozy restaurant and tremendous sushi! We had the Volcano roll and the yellow Tail Torch roll and they were both so good, with the spicy, baked Volcano roll as the winner. The mushroom cigars were delicious and I’m definitely not a mushroom enthusiast.

Definitely make a reservation for Friday and Saturday for peak hours. Parking can be a challenge as well.

This was $50 for the two rolls + appetizer and that’s a fair price for high quality sushi. You’d pay more in Seattle or San Francisco and not get better quality.

Just wow! Mazi and his team are friendly, attentive, kind and provided a fun and memorable experience. This is hands down the best Japanese selection of sushi (especially Salmon) that I’ve had dollar for dollar. Recommend sitting at the bar and ordering all the specials – yes, all of them. The aged Salmon with the variations offered are all so so good. We did order one roll, but honestly did not need to.

We’ve been coming here for over a decade. This has to be one of the best sushi places in portland. The service is always amazing. The menu is unique and creative and wonderful. Shout out to the Pop Rocks Roll… yes, a sushi roll with pop rocks on top. The fish is always fresh, and it’s just a great place to eat.

I’ve been going here for over 8 years now. It’s my favorite sushi spot in town and always a fantastic experience. The place is small so doesn’t get all the attention like other sushi restaurants in the area.
World class food run by an amazing family who treat you like a friend visiting their home. Take your time here to enjoy the atmosphere, imported sake, delicious rolls, and fun decor. You can’t get better than this place, everything is carefully prepared with love.

I’ve been visiting Sushi Mazi for over 5 years now and the consistent quality, incredible fish and sake selection, attention to detail and lovely caring team has brought my partner and I back time and time again.

The rolls are all great (get the salmon skin roll you won’t regret it) but the nigiri and sashimi are where it’s at! Perfect fish with delightful accents and Marc nails the fish to rice ratio on the nigiri every time.

Sake selection is also on point! There are always new bottles to try and varieties to fit every preference or pallet.

Chef Marc and his family have created a unique local gem. Sushi is my favorite food and Sushi Mazi is my favorite place in Portland to get it.

Sushi Mazi’s high end environment and kindness created a beautiful experience for me! The chefs and hosts are so generous. Plus the food is top notch! The Volcano roll has a nice spice sizzle to it. Highly recommend.

Everything about my experience here was 5

I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, the kind waiters and chefs, and the delicious food! It was some of the best sushi I’ve had! I ordered the salmon lover roll, the rainbow roll, the banzai roll, and the salmon (sake) nigiri! This was an ultimate combination and I highly recommend ordering all of these!
