The place has great sushi and solid appetizers. The staff is friendly (the sushi chef is always smiling and greeting guests) . It’s affordable and consistent. Love the live plants in their space as well .

I feel sad writing this edit, as I have throroughly enjoyed my food before today. I was serve raw and cold chicken today. When I confronted one of the owners, the Sushi Chef, he tried to tell me it’s impossible for the food to be both hot and cold.
He also loves to yell at his wait staff as well. There are three tables and door dash calling and there is only 1 person ever on staff doing both. The waitress we had was extremely patient and kind to us. She was being over worked and abused at this establishment.
I would also like to note that the Sushi chef never washes his hands, even between making sushi and interacting with customers. He’s brought me a box before with fish all over his hands and I had to handle it with napkins and was my own. I should have seen the red flags before, but usually his (I assume) wife is there to keep him in check. She was not in the front while we were served today.
I really enjoyed this place, but I have no idea if I’m going to get sick with the chicken I ate.
I gave a detailed recounting of my knowledge on cooking and reheating food. Unless my warning is headed, this place will unfortunately not last much longer.

January review:
When we walked in, it was quiet and comfortable. We seated where we liked and ordered our drinks right away.
The sushi is phenomenol! It’s prepared by a master sushi chef himself. It’s the BEST maki sushi roll I’ve ever had since moving here.
The vegatable potsticker appetizer exploded in my mouth. We demolished them so fast, I didn’t get to take a picture.
The tofu soup we had felt like home in my mouth. I cried drinking the broth and eating the perfectly textured veggies and tofu.
The Udon was amazing as well! The chicken melted in my mouth, the bamboo shoots were perfect (I don’t usually like them, but they were really good!), and the noodles were really good. I enjoyed the entire dish.
I feel like “Ego”, from Ratitoulle, writing this. The food here feels like home. Sipping my tea made me feel at peace after a stressful time, lately. And the food is really cheap and the portions are fantastic, considering the price.
I am going to come here again and again for as long as I live in Peoria.

1st time. Stopped in for lunch during a business trip. I was just floored by the large menu! The prices are very reasonable for the quality, which was amazing. The pictures in the menu hide how large the portions are, so make sure you order appropriately. The flavors were perfect, the presentation was on point, and the staff were super friendly! I hope I get to come here again to try even more things! If you’re ever in the area, you have to to check this place out!

I’m very unimpressed. All the sushi I ordered varied wildly in temperature. The Agedashi tofu was OK. The caterpillar roll was served with a hot temperature sauce on top of it. Never seen that in my life. The sushi prep area was also a hot mess when I arrived.
I will not be returning.

Ive been to Japan. I’ve eaten at many high-dollar sushi resteraunts that only heads of companies can enter.
Sushi Ko has the best sushi in Peoria, period. The chef trained for 15 years in Japan and loves what he makes.
Of course it tastes like Japan. BTW, order the House roll. Its as big as a house!

We’ve been going here for a little bit now and its always been good. However, when we went in during the afternoon the food was undercooked, the master chef was rude and dismissive of both their treatment of their staff, customers, and quality of the food. It was a rather disappointing experience, especially after we’d had good experiences here and were looking forward to continuing.

The food was pretty good and service was great for the one person there! I felt bad because it was our first time there and he was running around doing all the tables by himself. The food was good and the staff working were very kind and generous! Definitely get the potstickers, sushi, and crab rangoons! Prices were so incredibly cheap and worth it.

The food was not good We had a party of 3, everyone ordered different items. None of it was good. Myself, ordered the Teriyaki chicken sushi roll, and it was extremely salty!! The water had who knows what floating in it. This was our first and last time there. We will wait patiently for Sushigawa to open back up.

My partner and I went here for lunch to try a new sushi place. We were abruptly told to go “find a table” when we tried to sit at the sushi bar. My partner ordered two rolls and I ordered Dan Dan mein , which looked amazing in the photo on the menu. The bowl was full of chives and bok choy and chili oil. The dish I received looked like sloppy Joe on spaghetti. I told our server it did not look at all like the picture on the menu in which she replied “don’t order that next time then”. As far as the sushi, the rice was good but it was mostly full of lettuce and tempura. I think they may have forgotten the fish.

This is my all time favorite Asian cuisine restaurant. Everything is authentic and quality. My boyfriend and I have tried so many things on their menu, and we’ve never left disappointed. Our favorite is the seafood tempura roll! We’ve become regulars here, and the staff knows us well! It feels so homey.
