The fish is noticeably high quality and very fresh, the rice is perfectly cooked and well seasoned, and even the soy sauce tastes premium, those details make a big difference. Their weekday lunch menu (with an entrée) is excellent value at around €26, and I really appreciate how they always build my platter exactly the way I ask. À la carte can feel a bit pricey, but the platters are still worth it for the quality you get.
There aren’t many sushi spots around here with this level of quality, so I’m genuinely happy to have a traditional place like this nearby. I come at least once a week. There’s always room for small improvements anywhere, but overall I’m very satisfied. Easy 5 stars.
The restaurant was quiet and cozy, with a tasteful Japanese-inspired design, but nothing screaming “very Instagrammable influencer trap”.
We ordered the 58-piece combo (sashimi, uramaki, nigiri, hosomaki) and the Chef Kadda freestyle roll. The meal started with miso soup on the house due to Jaya’s anniversary (delicious, with silken tofu) and some crunchy prawn crackers.
The sushi boat was impressive: fresh, vibrant fish with a healthy color.
This is what we ate and some comments about the food:
-Fried sushi: crispy, not greasy, very tasty.
-Nigiri: I loved the tuna ones, this was the first time I enjoyed bream and it actually had a taste!!
-Sashimi: thick cuts, incredibly fresh (seared tuna was my favorite!).
-Uramaki: very good, especially the one with seared salmon.
-Freestyle roll: refreshing bits of mango (it was too filling, but it was our mistake of ordering extra, we still managed to finish it and the boat was enough, really).
-Fried sushi with strawberry: a sweet and festive finish to the whole experience.
And here are the final considerations:
-Outstanding fish quality, freshly made and prepared on the spot in front of your eyes, pretty much.
-Flavorful rice (unlike bland versions you find in other restaurants).
-Fresh and crunchy veggies.
-The boat with 58 pieces is a perfect portion for two, trust me!
-Friendly and talkative chef who explained the preparation process and how they treat the ingredients, and great service!
-Quiet, relaxed ambiance, very great for someone like me who has impairments and cannot stand bright lights and loud noises or for who just wants to eat in a calm place.
Jaya is simply a hidden gem: don’t judge by how many people are inside, some places are packed and you need to book in advance of WEEKS, just to be greeted by mediocre disappointment-flavoured dishes.
My only tiiiiny complaint is that the room was a bit too warm, but that certainly didn’t stop us from enjoying the food. I HIGHLY recommend this for special occasions or quality sushi cravings, it is totally worth the price over buffets and it left me with an unforgettable birthday experience!! 😀
The sushi was not only well plated, it was genuinely very delicious and satisfying. Ingredients were high quality, well prepared, well balanced– you can tell that every dish that the chef prepares is done with a lot of care and dare I say, love.
The server was also delightful, even offering to push our baby stroller so we could eat hands free haha (it was later in the afternoon with no guests).Value for money is truly amazing and the customer experience was just so delightful, definitely won’t be our last visit!
With all the news of restaurants in Luxembourg shutting down, I hope more people keep this one alive because it would be such a shame to lose it!
With a big party of eight people, most of them being children who love sushi, our waiter recommended the SUSHI COMBINAISONS 3 PERSONNES. This included 76 pieces of sashimi, nigiri, hossomaki, and uramaki. with the 76 pieces, the chef will give you a variation of the sashimi, nigiri, hossomaki, and uramaki OR, because many of the children prefer salmon – you could choose how the Sashimi, nigiri, hossomaki, and uramaki would be made. It was all very delicious. I’ve made sure to attach pictures of two large 76 and 30 piece boats we ordered. The presentation was amazing. Furthermore, the tuna provided in some of the sushi was a bluefin tuna. This tuna was juicy. It almost melted in the mouth. Again, amazing.
We also ordered some sides. These included in order or two of seaweed salad, vegetable spring rolls, and also potstickers.
Lastly, because my niece’s mother and father had reserved a table ahead of time And told the staff that it was her birthday, they set her up with a beautiful ice cream dessert with a sparkling candle. They really went above and beyond.
This place still provides some of the best sushi in Luxembourg.
Special thanks to Bipin plus the chef plus the kind lady with him who were serving us. They brought a surprise icecream for my husband for his birthday. Very thoughtful and kind of you. Keep it up and keep making the excellent food team ☺️
The food has been treated with much care, you could taste the food’s quality in every bite.
The 1 person menu was amazingly well-balanced (sashimi, classic pieces, fried sushi, fresh vegetables…).
The chef’s special gunkan was incredible too, and the waiter was very kind and patient ☺️
Would definitely recommend!!!
