I have to say, Sushi Island used to be our favorite place to order a large sushi platter but now in 2022 the quality has really gone down. I gave it the good ol’ 3 last chances/tries before finally switching to another place. Hope they get back in shape in the future

Rolls are not bad but nigiri is below average. Very small fish and wasabi is undoubtedly a cheap one. But to be honest, many sushi restaurants in New Jersey are like this one. Most of them are below average. I am suprised by the fact that they have good reviews.

I ordered via phone and ended up getting a wrong order. The host/hostess was extremely rude and unwilling to fix the order claiming they always make sure the order is correct. Okay- I’m the dumb one here, right? The food isn’t great either. Some sashimi pieces are okay but most of the food (sushi, other sashimi, rolls) is mushy and doesn’t seem fresh. Only if the host was nicer, I couldn’ve been feeling okay since the price wasn’t too bad. Today I realized that the cheap price includea their rude service!

This is my go to sushi take out place. I order here about 3 to 4 times annually, and usually get the sashimi/ sushi platter; never had any issues. Quality of sushi/ sashimi/ rolls are comparable to other sushi places.

We ordered some bento boxes for lunch and the chicken teriyaki is not what I expected. I have had chicken teriyaki plenty of times elsewhere and usually it is tender, juicy chicken in teriyaki sauce. The kind they have here tastes more like dry fried chicken jerky with teriyaki sauce. It reminded me of the hard, candied Korean sweet potato dessert they serve at Korean Chinese restaurants. My co-worker ordered the bulgogi and thought it was too sweet. One other co-worker thought the shumai was really good. It was just ok. I only wonder how the sushi is here.
