I’ve left a review in the past but I’m updating it as it’s been several years at this point.

My partner and I have been regulars of Sushi Dabu for many years at this point, since we moved back to the area in 2020. Even before then, I came here a lot on my own when I was still in high school. Every time I’ve come to Sushi Dabu, I’ve been very impressed with not only the food itself, but the service. Since my last review, ownership has changed, and the new owners and staff are also fantastic hosts.

You really can’t go wrong with any of their dishes. My go-to dish is the pork hot stone bowl, but their yakisoba, katsu, and soups are also all delicious. I would recommend trying the tempura and the takoyaki as well. Their sushi is also fantastic, and I just recently tried a nigiri platter for the first time (I have never been a huge fan of fish, and most of the time I am very cautious about raw fish) and was blown away by how delicious it was. I was worried I wouldn’t like it due to my aversion to fish, but the nigiri was very fresh and meaty, buttery, smooth, flavorful, etc. Some of my favorites were the akami, unagi, skipjack, and yellowtail, but all of them were delicious.

Sushi Dabu is our favorite restaurant, and is often the place we choose for our dinner + movie date night. I hope to keep coming here for a long, long time, and I highly recommend them if you’re looking for great Japanese/Korean food, fantastic and warm service, and a lowkey but fun atmosphere.

Where to begin. This is the only place I go to and know I will be well taken care of and so will my guests. The food is of the highest quality and that still after the ownership change months ago if not longer now. The waitresses (sorry i’m
horrible with names) are awesome and don’t miss a beat and deserve a lot of the praise just like the owner and chefs.

Really pleasant atmosphere, clean, not loud.

Highly recommend Takoyaki as a starter one of my favorites. Miso soup is always great to start with even with loads of sushi coming your way. Crazy Girl Roll, Spicy Tuna or even better Yellowtail and Red Lion roll.

It gets busy and for good reason. But if you are lucky like me and my wife are sometimes, you will enjoy a quiet meal before the rush.

See you again very soon -Safuan

Incredible! This restaurant had a lovely ambiance, the menu is robust with many options, and there was only a short wait time for our food. The dishes were beautifully presented. We had eel and salmon nigiri as well as kimchi dumplings, jalapeno poppers, miso soup, seaweed salad, shrimp tempura roll, and California roll. The kimchi dumplings were amazing; so crisp and the sauce not too spicy. The eel melted in your mouth. The jalapeno poppers with crab meat were killer…would be a great hangover food. We were stuffed. Really delicious! We’ll be back.

One of the best sushi spots here in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor. I have been going here for years and this is one of my regular spots. The sushi is great and I love the spring rolls and the fried dumplings! Also, amazing service from Annie! Love her!

I love it here! Everyone is so nice and the service was phenomenal! The food is very good and they are very considerate of you don’t want a specific sauce on it. The place itself is beautiful. The entire experience was amazing! Definitely will be coming here more and recommending it to others!

Sushi Dabu catered to our workplace yesterday and it was the best day ever. My colleagues and I were absolutely delighted with the presentation and flavors of the sushi, every bite was better than the last. The sashimi was so fresh and wonderfully cut, and they have a wide range of rolls to select from, even if you are vegetarian! We had a vege roll with caramalized sweet potato and everyone was saying how amazing it was. My personal favorites were the Mickey’s on Fire roll, Mt. Fuji roll and Ruby roll, they are unlike any rolls I’ve had elsewhere and I go to a lot of sushi restaurants. Their appetizers were delicious as well. Their miso soup and spicy edamame were lovely, and their chicken teriyaki skewers were grilled and glazed to perfection. Honestly cannot wait to eat there again, 10/10 highly recommend!

This is the best sushi in the area. We are from Atlanta and have eaten at some of the top restaurants and this is just as good. The service id fantastic. Annie and the other server are so kind and attentive. We are regulars and they know our names and our drink orders as soon as they seat us. The restaurant interior is cozy and welcoming. If you get the opportunity to stop by please do. Ask for recommendations from Annie because they are spot on. See you soon!

New management knows what’s up! I used to be “fine” with this place, but the meal we had last night was outstanding. Incredible service and it was apparent the food was fresh. I was a big fan of the “Seoul Walker” TV channel on in the front.
— a fun touch to add to the nice atmosphere. And thanks to Annie for making our experience even better.

We love agedashi tofu so have ordered it from nearly every place that offers it in town. This is easily the best. Perfectly fried with a rich, sweet broth.

The tamago is made fresh (you can taste the difference) so definitely get some nigiri if you’re a fan.

Our maki rolls were all fantastic, I really don’t think you can go wrong. Enjoyed the mushroom, salmon on the beach, and mogu mogu rolls. They are very considerate about flavor and texture combos!

Enjoyed a couple bottles of hot sake with our meal as well.

We’ll definitely be back! What a gem.

The service and food were exceptional. Especially for the price! We were super happy. We got the chirashi donburi, tuna feast platter, the spicy seafood udon, and a soju mule pitcher to share. The tuna was super fresh, some of the best I’ve had in Ann Arbor. Our server was Annie and she was extremely attentive and ensured my food was gluten free with no cross-contamination (I have celiacs and this is not easy to find).
