Sushi by Boū was delicious. I had the 13 course omakase, the fish and wagyu was melt in your mouth type good. Fish tasted fresh. Tried caviar for the first time, it was salty and fishy but not bad. It was a great experience! The chef was really nice as well.

This was a last minute reservation and I wasn’t expecting much. The door is located in the basement so it was a little confusing to find. But the atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. It’s a small space and surprisingly intimate. The omakase is very reasonable priced at 12 pieces for $65. It’s a set menu with a la carte after. Waiters were all very attentive and the sushi chef was friendly and knowledgeable. The fish was fresh and delicious. Drinks were inventive and also very good. Definitely recommend.

We came Sushi by Bou for the second time as wanted to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Our first experience at the DC location was amazing, so we were excited to try Sushi by Bou in Times Square. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing because the rice wasn’t cooked properly — it was still crunchy. However, the staff were very nice and friendly.

This place poped up on our instagram feed offering an omakase for $10 off. We decided to book it our on trip and it was available. We were a little skeptical since it was 13 items in 30min. We were all like, really. Well, it’s such a fun location to visit in NY and it’s down the stairs. You walk in and it’s 1 room with 1 bar where it seats about 8 folks at a time.

Everything was delicious! I don’t feel like our chef was as personable as the one on the other side but that’s ok. Long as the food was good, that’s all that matters. The Toro was my favorite since it melts in your mouth. Such a fun experience for yummy food!!

I got the chance to try this location because I liked the one in Chelsea! When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a downstairs speakeasy vibe restaurant. I got to experience their 12-Course Omakase for just $55! And it was good! Orby made everything and he was great! I had:

Vodka Martini
Hamachi
Akami
Botan Ebi
Ikura
Bincho
Maguro
Hotate
Gindara
Toro
Sake
Wagyuni
Unagi

I loved the 12 course! It was a good time all in all!

It is insane and frankly undeserved that I was able to get a reservation here day of; this place is so insanely good and at such a good price and I cannot recommend it enough! Food was incredible (of course) but the atmosphere was such a vibe and the staff, especially Chef Orby, were so fun and enjoyable to talk to too! This is absolutely a mandatory stop for me every time I’m in the city from now on.

Had such a great time dinning here. The staff is very courteous and helped accommodate me after some issues with my reservation.

This was my first omakase experience and so glad this one it. Unlike traditional omakase, the ambience and service here is more laid back and perfect if you’re on a night out looking to have a drink and chill vibes. Just note the space can be a bit tight and lack waiting space.

Definitely recommend!

This place was so stinking good . It feels a little “underground” (which it actually is) because you get there with a little gated stairway to a basement spot that looks like you need a password to get in, but you don’t. There are like 8 seats total around a chef table, with a couple seats against wall for waiting for your seating. Very small, but very cool. The Omakase was absolutely delicious, I wanted more of everything. Chefs did a great job with my gluten free requirements, I watched it all as they made it and my piece was separated when needed, with one or two adjustments when the dish had gluten (like I got a different piece when I couldn’t do the salmon roe that was marinated in soy sauce). Truly fantastic food, would go back in a heartbeat.

We went to Sushi by Bou in Times Square yesterday, and it was nothing short of electric. From the moment we descended the secret stairwell—located right next to the Sanctuary Hotel’s entrance—you knew you were in for something special. The whole space is tiny and intimate (about eight seats at the counter), but they pack it full of personality: dim lighting, graffiti-lined walls, and an old-school hip‑hop soundtrack that had real street‑corner energy .

But the real star of the show was Chef Alex. He was on fire—cracking jokes, hyping our table, teasing the music, and even closing out each bite with one-liners that had us in stitches. And yet, he never lost his chef’s focus. Each nigiri was plated and delivered with laser precision… a seamless dance of flavor and flair. Alex’s combination of comedic timing and culinary skill felt rare, and it elevated the whole experience.

The omakase was a 12-course, 30-minute sprint (they also do a 17-course “Bougie” upgrade), and it felt like a curated journey through contemporary sushi with a hip‑hop soul . Standouts included the torched albacore, buttery Hokkaido scallop, and the saucy miso black cod. But the vibe? That old‑school hip‑hop soundtrack gave it a real nightlife pulse—like a secret speakeasy for sushi lovers .

A few highlights:

The ambiance: Graffiti art and rap CDs on the walls, loud but not crushing, and it felt like the chef was spinning behind our bowl instead of a DJ .

The pacing: Courses dropped every few minutes—fast, intense, but never chaotic. Perfect for a pre‑show bite or a quick, delicious detour .

Extras: We couldn’t resist adding the “Big Mac” hand roll—wagyu, uni, scallop, toro—it was a bomb of epic luxury, perfect to close the set .

If you want omakase with rhythm, energy, and real personality, especially in the heart of Times Square, this is it. Forget sterile sushi temples—this is raw, real, and alive. And if Chef Alex is behind the counter, you’re in for one hell of a night. Delicious, fun, and straight‑up unforgettable. Five stars, no doubt.
