Went here on Valentine’s day with a reservation made for two, and was sat down at a table and told I was going to be helped shortly, a comforting and familiar experience. However, what I did not anticipate was the 20 minute wait just to order my food, and once our order was taken, we waited about 40 minutes before leaving the establishment, noting that there was one person bussing, hosting, and taking orders at the same time. The fact that this restaurant was this poorly staffed on a holiday was unacceptable, and we instead left and were served immediately at Mr Hibachi, a restaurant not five minutes down the road. Do not waste time in coming here.

I enjoyed the chicken teriyaki, miso soup and avocado salad. It was fresh and inexpensive. My husband had teriyaki shrimp, it was very good. We are now hooked on this place.

Been one of my go-to Sushi places in Bloomington since I moved here a decade ago. Especially good for lower-cost sushi and entrees that you might be paying a lot more for at other places in town.

So nice!! I love this place. The environment is so quiet and peaceful and the staff are really nice and friendly. The food is very delicious. Costs about $15-$20 per person though.

Thought the sushi size was weirdly small so I googled it, and yeah the Shrimp Tempura Roll I got is literally half (4 inches) the size of a standard sushi roll (7 to 8 inches).

It took us 1 hour 15 minutes to get the two hand rolls and four additional rolls as seen below, and the dining room was at about 60% capacity! At 60%, it was very loud at times with people only speaking in normal voice tone.
The sushi was good but not enough for the wait. The menu offers 30% off of the prices but the prices have been elevated so that pricing is really no bargain…
All in all, Ami’s remains our favirite place for sushi so far in Bloomington as the sushi is delicious, pricing the best we have found so far, atmosphere so much more pleasing and quiet, and one does not have to wait 2-3 times longer to get one’s food as it takes one to eat it!

I enjoyed the food but I don’t think it was worth 14 dollars. I got some spicy yaki noodles and it was alright. I don’t think it was a lot of food for the buck. The service was okay the lady came around 4 times in total. I was with a friend who also wasn’t a fan of the food. As for the times they came to our table: One to take our drinks, then to take our orders then to give us our food, and lastly to give us our check.
Edit: Decided to get a pickup was told 20 minutes, got there 30 minutes later and food was still not finished. The place had only two active tables and weren’t that busy considering one table already had there food and the second table came in while I was waiting. Disappointed about wait times again. I probably won’t come her again.

We tried this establishment for the first time on a fairly calm Friday evening and the main takeaway we got was: order online, don’t dine in. This restaurant seems to prioritize online orders rather than in store orders, or that’s what it seemed like when we ate there. There were maybe 3-4 tables seated including ourselves so it was not busy but it took 1.5 hours to get our food. We didn’t get an overly complex order either; just sushi and rice. The food was good but not worth the wait. They were very on top of online orders however. We saw several go out quickly while we were seated. After 1.25 hours we asked if our food had even been started yet because if it wasn’t we’d have left but they basically started it immediately after we said something. The server only waited on us for the drinks and then we never saw him again. We had to flag down a different server to ask if our food was coming or not and to get our check.
The sushi was good but not worth an hour and a half wait. Overall the service was very poor but the food was decent.
Also side note: the water has a really weird strong taste to it.
